This really sounds like one of those dumb rumors that starts after someone initially gets proven wrong.
He went to Alabama!
No, he didn't.
Well his daughter did!

It's a fact.
His daughter goes/went to U of Ala

NCAA should not have allowed this to happen in the first place

100%. You can't referee the games of any school you (and I think any of your immediate family) attended.
Then how the hell can Ritter be the ultimate authority..in anonymity from Birmingham, no less, in the replay booth? It is obvious now that its not just about the game your old team is playing in...it's now about the game before that game where you can affect the outcome of the next game by confirming a bogus targeting call.

People have been saying this since at least 2014 and he never stopped calling Alabama games. As far as I can tell, no one has ever produced any proof that he has a daughter that went to Alabama. The SEC won't assign a ref to cover a school where one of their children attend, and it's unlikely that they would ever assign the ref to that school even after the child leaves unless there's an unavoidable circumstance.

I took the test for that position
They asked if you were still national champs if you lost your bowl game. I said no SEC said the correct answer was yes. Only a Gump would answer this question correctly

Sorry for my ignorance but I just found out that Steve Shaw is an Alabama Grad. Wtf how can this not be a conflict of interest? How this allowed? AD’s from around the conference should demand a change, I just don’t understand how they have allowed this from the start!

Currently, the SEC has one replay official at each game, and three replay officials looking at every game in Birmingham. When a review begins, all three officials in Birmingham look at the play and come to a decision. They tell the replay official on-site what they think the call should be. The on-site replay official then can go with what the officials in Birmingham suggest, or he can give his own ruling.
There's also 5 officials that rotate in and out as the 3 in Birmingham each week.

Just an FYI, Tom Ritter has been the Coordinator of Football Officials in the Gulf States Confrence since 2017.

Can somebody explain to me what the REC is? I know it has something to do with recruiting.

or LSU should leave SEC
At one time I would have cringed over that idea. Now, not so much! SEC needs LSU more than LSU needs the SEC!
Hester made a great point yesterday on his show. If the SEC wants to nip all this favoritism towards Alabama in the bud then get Shaw out and all the Alabama guys and bring in a guy from freaking East Washington that has zero ties to the SEC! It's the only way to stop all this chatter!

I think you mean the Gulf South Conference.

Here's what LSU fans are upset about. How could the Southeastern Conference officials initially rule targeting on an Auburn player and then not only over rule it, but merely call it an incompletion?
Mac Wilson's hit on Tennessee's QB was exactly like White's. Nothing called.
Yet Devin White is ejected and suspended from the first half of the Alabama game. The same entity that decided Auburn's and Alabama's players hits were clean deemed LSU's was dirty? All three plays the same type of hit.
Its nonsense like that that has the LSU fanbase livid.

I've only seen one gif of the hit, but judging by the way the WR's body moved from the hit, it looked like the hit was on the WR's shoulder. The WR's helmet probably hit the DB's shoulder after the hit as a result of whiplash from the initial point of contact. Should have been pass interference, but I don't see targeting, unless the outside of the shoulder is the "head/neck" area.

Not really. Mack hit the QB in the chest with his head up.
White hit the QB in the facemask with his facemask. Mack's was definitely a bigger, more forceful hit, but it is legal. If White lowered himself just a little bit, he wouldn't have been suspended.

no. No way Wilson's is legal and White's wasn't. White didn't hit him with his facemask.

Yes he did. It's clear as day. White's hands were 2" in front, yet to the side, of his head and were not extending at the time of contact. It's physically impossible that he didn't hit his head as a primary point of contact.
