You keep focusing on that like we don't have anyone there. We have 3 solid players fighting for that spot, and you already are assuming because they haven't been established, we suck at that position.
Furthermore, how will legitimate threat of playaction hurt this offense again?

He has been hurt for awhile, I think. All I know is Copeland and Stampley were equally horrible last year. Go watch the TAMU game and see how many blocks both of them missed. The bright side to Copeland is he is only a Sophomore...but my god did he whiff on blocks last year. Dude would run 100mph to a LB only to get juked out of his socks...on a block.
Hilliard as a FB makes a lot of sense to me. I just hope that isn't his permanent role because it would be a waste to not give him the ball eventually.

There's nobody proven at that position. That is almost beyond debate. We haven't had a fullback since Quinn. I really do hope that JC can play the position and isn't snagged by the Josh downs injury bug but he's always injured. And Hilliard is a true frosh so I hope he can have a similar impact that we saw with Scott and Hester when they were serviceable there. But we just don't know.

We did this with Hester and Scott and it wasn't permanent. Rather him get on the field at a need position than sit him.

You're off here.
You're saying we don't have a fullback, yet I'm under the impression that Copeland and Stampley are ready to play.
Go back and watch the Cotton Bowl, and tell me how many snaps Copeland gets, and what he does with those opportunities.
Are you really putting him in the injury prone category for his first injury that required missed practice time, but has yet to keep out of a real game?

You and I aren't watching the same game.

I think when they hand the ball of to Hillard at the FB position and he bulldozes for 5-7 yards. The blocks for the FB will get easier.

Having bodies doesn't mean we have players that can play the position effectively, allowing us to run the ball in I-formation.

He has been injured, we don't know the extent, and I watched the game. He could be a good player, but he can't be a good player if he isn't on the field.
Stampley isn't good.

bullshite, you better open your eyes better. Copeland misses a ton of blocks in that game. He often times goes 100mph and just completely misses his blocks. Same thing with Stampley in that game.

Dickson is a TE like his brother, but there are similarities between the two positions. I would think he could step in if needed. I also would think Clement could step in in a single TE set. (Peterson at TE)
Clement looked good in the backfield in HS.

Copeland will be fine. Just commenting on a TE that I've seen in a backfield.

Whats specifically wrong with Copeland?

That is how a FB is suppose to block. They put a bead on you and turn you out the running lanes. Copeland/Stampley aren't anywhere near that level, at least they weren't last year. Both Stampley and Copeland often times miss their blocks and end up chipping them from the side falling on their asses. Not to mention Stampley doesn't even know what lane to block half the time. We've been missing a good FB since Quinn.

Yeah someone brand new to the position should be automatically used to it. You guys are amazing.

Copeland switched midseason to the position from DL. It's not that simple to just learn a new position on the fly.

The original conversation was Copeland was blocking well last season when he wasn't. He made a couple good blocks but I'm pretty sure Stampley played more than him in the Cotton Bowl. And Stampley is terrible. I never said Copeland can't develop into a good FB. In fact, I said the positive with him is he is a Sophomore. Meaning he has plenty of time to develop. But the concern with lack of a good FB is there...
