Does anyone have any recommendations for hotels in Columbia, SC? I'll be driving in from Charlotte.

I'll also welcome any warnings to stay away from certain hotels. :)

Thanks!

I'm driving in from Birmingham, but was waiting to see what time the game was before finalizing my plans.

This link may give you better info.

LINK

There used to be a really cool / casual area called 5 points

might want to do a search for

5 points columbia sc.

Forgot a HEADS UP
check on this....
Columbia used to go dry at 12:00 midnight, except for Private Clubs that went until 5.
...they will be USC heavy

...they will usually allow anyone but there is a cover...
may sure to ask on both counts

I am aware its a 90 minute drive. I guess I should clarify that I'm flying out of Charlotte (not living or staying there). And due various driving/flight/travel plans for myself and my friends, it's simply most convenient for us to stay in the Columbia area.

Mostly, I'm looking for what parts of town to avoid in this hotel search...

Thanks for the link, rbdallas

There are still a lot of rooms available within 5 miles of campus. We still need to book ours. We will be in Columbia(LSU) on Saturday and Charlotte(Saints) on Sunday.

Ive been there a few times on business... the Hilton Columbia Center is the best place to stay over there, its really nice and a short distance to campus... but there is also and awesome bed and breakfast called Rose Hall that is a nice place to stay and also close to campus, not a lot of people know about it. Both are kind of withing walking distance... they are on the other side of campus from the stadium.

Best in downtown area are Marroitt and The Whitney - a nice older place on Devine St.

That's a decent location. But I wouldn't advise walking to Five Points or anywhere from there at night.

Anyone familiar with the Charlotte area? We still need to book our rooms for the Saints game and find a parking lot where we can tailgate with our trailer.

I'm staying in Cayce, SC. Per a friend at work it is on the outskirts of Columbia about 5-8 miles from the stadium.

Yeah it's an easy drive over the river. Not much to do around there though.

That's ok. We are planning on only sleeping there. The rest of the time we'll be sightseeing or at the stadium. Getting off work early on Friday, 5 hr drive, eat, sleep get up, taigate and watch the Tigers win.
