Wanna know how I can tell?

Well Ole Miss beat them this past week and they have an RPI of 31. The team we beat by 30 is 40 places higher than us. They really havent beaten anyone else that has a good RPI so here is to hoping we can pull out a huge win on the road. State has been very up and down so hope we can catch them on a down day!

Ill have my scouting report out Tuesday.

State has always been SOS. I think it's a by-product of the kind of players they have to recruit to win there and also Stansbury if a pretty mediocre bench coach.

I'm hoping they will hit a valley after their big road win at Vandy.

I think we played probably our two best games last year against State, and T.J. has probably had as much success against them save any SEC team outside Auburn.

Has Dee Bost been there for like 7 years?

A win vs Miss St or Kentucky or both would be HUGE for this team! Would feel like a small championship if this were to happen...

Im not saying that it will happen, but It would be unbelievable i it were to happen, kinda like the year we knocked off Florida at the PMAC that was an awesome basketball game... That team kind of reminds me of this team in a way as well...

Hopefully Hamilton goes full beast mode and maybe he can get some help from Storm or White down low...

Let's keep in mind that we're going up against Rick freaking Stansbury. We should all know this after what happened last year in Starkville.

Don't lose hope.

Exactly c on z.

What I noticed last year was that he played the high ball screen differently against us than any other team. He did not hedge hard on Stringer. Every other team did and that essentially blew up our offense every time cause Stringer could not handle it.

This allowed us better passing lanes, more open looks and generally gave us a chance.

Now Hickey handles this much better than Stringer but still if Stansbury plays it the same way against us this year I still think it helps.

I don't know how Stansbury still has a job. State is the definition of mediocrity since he's been at the helm.

I'm really starting to have my doubts with TJ though as well.

Wow!. He is the winningest coach in the SEC and State ranks #2 in the SEC right now.........

287-154 in 14 years, 6 NCAAs, 4 NITs 9 20+ win seasons and one season below .500 (14-16)

Yep. Real cesspool over there.

State goes as Dee Bost and Arnett Moultrie go. If they're on, we'll have a tough night.

State can also hit the three pretty well, so if they're on like Florida was Saturday, it will be a tough night.

I think we *can* beat State, but I think it's more realistic to expect a home and home split with them.

So basically what you're saying is more than HALF of the time you're not even going to make the tournament.

In 14 years, State had NEVER made it to the final 8 teams. Nah that's not a mediocre basketball program at all.

There's also 5 SEC West championships, and two conference tournament wins under Stansbury. I'd probably guess that only Florida and Kentucky have more wins in that time frame. Tennessee, Vandy and Bama are probably close, but they've all had a few crappy years in the past decade.

So, you think the bar should be set at what? 25 wins per season? 30 wins and a Final Four, or the season was a failure?

320 of the 342 Division I programs should can their coaches annually for failing to hit that mark so they don't succumb to "mediocrity?"

That's horseshite.

Sorry.

Zealot, you obviously don't know a whole lot about coaches. Stans isn't great, but he's a good coach.

I'm hoping for a split with these guys. I think we will win at home.
