I was researching LSU night games at home just because I asked the question, how many night games at home has LSU played? and couldn't' find answers.
1902-1930
All day home games: 90-27-3, (120 games, 75%)
1931-2019 Home Games
Home Night Games 1931-2019: 336-108-13 (457 games, 73.52%)
Home Day Games 1931-2019: 73-38-4 (116 games, 62.93%)
SEC Home Night Games (1932-2019): 137-78-7 (222 games, 61.71%)
SEC Home Day Games (1932-2019): 57-33-4 (94 games, 60.64%)
All games 1902-2019
Away: 225-193-24 (442 games, 50.90%)
Neutral: 58-36-2 (96 games, 60.42%)
Home: 499-173-21 (693 games, 72.01%)
Total: 782-402-47 (1231 games, 63.53%)
1924 Tiger Stadium opened, capacity 12,000.
Our first night game was Oct 3, 1931 vs Spring Hill (LSU won 35-0), Tiger Stadium capacity 22,000. Kickoff was at 8:00 pm.
Bernie Moore took over in 1935 and pushed for more night games. That led to banner crowds; dominance lead to tradition.
1936 expansion, capacity increased to 46,000.
Since the SEC formed in 1932, LSU has played night home SEC games every year from 1932-2010. We played zero SEC night games in 2011 (FY CBS!) but we did play 2 home night games vs OOC opponents that year.

Our overall record since 2000, 20 seasons now, is remarkable comparable to our history. Since 2000, we are 212-59, which is good for a 78.2% winning percentage. Now, we've historically been good wining at a mid 60s% clip, but a winning percentage just under 80% is elite, and we are averaging that for a 20 year clip now and through three head coaches.
Also, our bowl winning percentage since 2000 is at 67%, with two wins this year, to get us to a 14-7 record for this period. I think this is elite as well. FYI, often overlooked in the Les Miles era is his remarkable bowl performances in his first four years, with us winning four straight (including 2 Sugar Bowls) by an average of over 28 points per game. Coach O has now started 4-1 in bowls, with the most dominant three bowls we may have ever played in the last three, given the competition.
Also, winning 5 outright SEC titles and playing for a sixth in this time period is incredible as well.
So, I'd say we were historically a nice program, with an era of greatness from 1958 to 1973, but other than that, we were just that, pretty nice.
We have taken it to another level for the last 20 years.

Is it possible that the famous night game record is a little skewed?
Tough games are split between night and day tv games.
But McNeese State, Rice, and cough (Troy) type games are always at night.

There is some truth, but during the "Bad" years, LSU was most vulnerable at the 11:00 AM JP slot.
What is changed is that everyone plays at night these days. It is not a shock to the system for teams visiting Baton Rouge to have to play at night.
I do think LSU plays better in the evening, but the wins are driven by talent and coaching.

Man I watch the YouTube videos of the JP pilot games and I am like that looks like 1970's video quality. The truth i am getting old AF
Glad we don't have too many 11 am games anymore.
