The National Championship argument is getting SO tired.

Because these idiots are incapabable of analyzing that season for what it was: underachievement that is now in its third straight season. I'll even go as far to say that 2005 and 2006 were better seasons overall for LSU.

Seriously? Look at how the following programs have fared:
1) Notre Dame: Charlie Weiss 35-25, .583 winning percentage, was hired after firing Ty Willingham who was.583 as well.
2) Miami: Randy Shannon is 19-16 with a .542 winning percentage after firing Larry Coker, who was.800 with a 60-15 record.
3) Michigan: Rich Rodriguez is .347 which is fricking retarded for being in the big 10. This is after chasing Lloyd Carr out of town who was .753 with a 122-40 record.
4) NC State: Tom O'brien is .438 with a 14-18 record after firing Chuck Amato who was 49-35.
5) Texas A&M: Sherman sucks. 9-13. Franchione was better.

what is the criteria used to select these and disclude others? Why was Florida firing Zook with a .621 clip somehow not included? John Cooper and his .700+ record at OSU?

2 losses to UF and AU the road on are much more respectable than 2 losses to UK and Arky (at home)

Thanks for that. They won a national championship. What more do you want?
build on the championship, don't follow it with a 5 loss season & a season after that try not to look like a high school offense

Now yes, Katrina and Rita happened, but what about Tennessee '05 when we blew that 20 or 21 point halftime lead? Tennessee didn't even make it to a bowl game that year.

I agree. I mean just look at Florida after Ron Zook. Check out Bama after Mike Shula.
Way to show what a dumbass you are. How many divisional, conference or national championships did Zook and Shula have? Miles has a chance to have his 4th top 5 finish in five years to go along with 2 divisional championships, 1 conference championship and 1 national championship. Not to mention, he is a good person and represents the program with class.

Thank God Stanford blocked that PAT against USC in 2007... that's all I can say for Miles.

"Nebraska fired Frank Solich, who followed legendary Coach Tom Osbourne. He had a 58-19 record there and was fired. He exceeded the total number of wins in his six years that Osbourne (55) and Devaney (53) had at Nebraska. After that, Nebraska went through the Bill Callahan years (similar to our Hallman years)."

Solich was fired for banging his secretary.

Yeah but we only had 1 reg. season loss and no bye week. That's more than acceptable.

Serious question. What do you think our record would be IF RP was playing his senior year this season? Try your best to answer sans sarcasm.

I don't think anyone actually thinks he should be FIRED. Obviously he has not been bad enough to fire. I think we are all just hoping that he takes the Michigan job if it comes open.

This. The only reason I don't want Miles fired is the message it sends to the available coaches. If I could be sure it wouldn't deter a quality coach from coming here, I definitely would want Miles canned after the season ends.

LSU got a coach who averages 10 Wins per season..as long as he continues to pull in top 5 recruiting classes.

fixed

Of course, you win with talent. Carroll is top 2 in recruiting every yr but loses to teams that are not in top 30 ala Stanford and Oregon State. Same for Notre Dame. Who has Stoops beaten that had more talent than him?Les beat him twice with inferior talent. Why does Saban recruit so hard?
LSU is not going to win SEC every yr. Niether is Bama or Florida.

The fact remains that he blew two games against mediocre (at best) opponents. And to anyone who said Arkansas was a good opponent, Mizzou waxed that arse in the Cotton Bowl.

arkansas was a good opponent. just not as good as mizzou. we still blew that game, though.

who is posting that they want miles fired?

Look at the posts on here calling him stupid, retarded, and a liar might mean they want him fired.
When guys that never played the game. which comprises 75% of this board, know more than the coach as they claim, they must want him fired.
