Only thing he needs to learn is blocking. If he doesn't know how to run the ball yet it will never happen. This is the RB position... easiest position to step into as a freshman. It's not rocket science either he is capable or he isn't. You aren't going to teach vision or moves or power or heart.

McFadden/Jones/Hillis
Brown/Williams/Jacobs
Peyton Hillis accepted his role as a lead blocker for McFadden and Jones. Brandon Jacobs didn't like his role and transferred. Both still made it to the NFL and have successful careers as ball-carriers. Playing FB isn't an indictment of a player's running abilities especially with so much top shelf competition on the field. Even if Hilliard doesn't get to tote the rock on a consistent basis, he still has the qualities to be successful in the NFL.

Playing fullback does make him a better blocker. History shows Les values a well-rounded back over the highlight reel. Hence Hester over Williams, Scott over Williams, and Ware over Ford.

Hester played a lot of fullback early on, and a lot of people were absolutely certain that he couldn't be a running back in the SEC. Joseph Addai also began his career as a fullback against Virginia Tech as a true freshman, so it's not something unprecedented.

FB pos is closer to the line of scrimmage so you have less time to react than if you were get'n the ball from the HB pos. So you learn to make reads faster and hopefully once he's in the HB spot the reads should come way easier!

it also rewards a high profile freshman for coming to campus fat and gets him PT before a better fellow true freshman RB. Classic Les.

2 deep at FB with lots of question marks prior to Hilliard versus 4 deep at HB with 2 studs prior to Magee. Isn't Odell Beckham getting much more playing time than a higher profile Jarvis Landry? Classic Rantard.

I agree with this. Bring him in with Ware and Shepard at times, swing Ware and or Shepard out and line him up in the TB spot, now we talkin!

He must have shown something in practice, or CLM wouldn't have given him anything. That said, hes looked shaky/dubious at rb and probably would have contributed more at LB.

No I never said that. My question is how does playing fullback help improve your vision. I asked that question in response to a post that said playing fullback would help his vision and I just don't see it and I never played fullback then moved to tailback so I simply asked how his vision would improve. I would think the fullback hits a whole so fast that there isn't a lot of reading or setting up of blocks which is what the post had also mentioned so I was just looking for some additional insight to the position.
