What is a realistic coaching list for LSU?

Shaka Smart?
Steve Prohm?
Kermit Davis?

It will all depend on how this entire college basketball season plays out. And have those guys (outside of Smart) been considered for other jobs?

ve forgiven Dale, and he's done more for the downtrodden than I'll ever think of doing, but I just can't conjure wistful rememberances of him.

You should think harder then because some of the best highlights from LSU sports history are of Dale Brown teams. The guy had a 15 or so year run of excitement that was absolutely incredible and had us in the national spotlight quite often. I'll personally never forget those days.

If Murray keeps up the pace they're at Prohm will be the hottest name when the coaching carousal begins in the off season.

I think Kermit Davis is your best chance though with the LSU ties and the turn around he's completing at MTSU it seems like a good fit.

I don't have to think harder. I can remember them all like they were yesterday. And I said I will always remember them fondly.

I grew tired of Dale's BS and drama long before he tanked it at the end, but that never dampened the fond memories his teams gave me.

But I was always able to separate love for LSU from coaches and long ago quit putting them on pedastals.

And what he did to the program had an effect long after his departure. That's why the wistful remembarances for me are of the teams but not Dale.

How long has he been at MTSU and to what degree has he turned things around there?

Yeah, Trent would never recruit Louisiana's best.

Trent should sign the best kid in Louisiana every year, so far he hasn't made much of an attempt to sign one, with exception of Darenbecker, who truthfully there were better kids than him in the state that year. I forgot to mention the anthony randolphs or ronald duprees those were two players from out of state. Tac Minor was the third rated point guard in the country, Regis Kunja was a top 50 player, these kids didn't work out but my point is at one time we could get some out state top fifty players. When Trent was hired he tried to sell us on the "build a program" philosphy then he signs Chris Bass and Ludwig two kids that were recruited by no one, then he brings in Malcolm Scott who was supposedly the " help was on the way kid. IMO him not signing one player his first year is the reason he is in this boat. He finally decides this past summer to recruit JC's and we lose a kid to Nebraska. Trent has no relationship to date with aau coaches which is where these kids come from. Recruiting four year kids doesn't work if you want to compete at the highest level which every now and then is fun. We will never see those days with TJ. I have said from day one he was the wrong guy for this job.

I'm guessing next year we have a line up of:

Hickey
Morgan
Turner
O'Bryant
Hamilton

hopefully Gathers first off the bench. I think they should offer Milburn too.

Again Elleshoe I think getting Gathers or not makes or breaks Trent.

I personally hope it makes him, because I really like Trent and what he stands for, even though I think as a bench coach he's pretty darn mediocre. I think he brings alot else that to me is more important.

So I want him to get the players to allow him to overcome his deficiencies and accentuate the positives he brings.

Why the love for Shaka Smart? Anthony Grant is proving to be a failure, so why is his protege so special?

Kermit has been at MTSU since he left LSU in 2002. I've always liked him.

less than 8 wins and Trent needs to sign Gathers to keep his job IMO.

I'll ride my bike to Wichita if Marshall rides back to BR on my pegs.

So you think Gathers is the solution to everything? A kid with no position in college?

I was skeptical of Brady's hiring of Kermit, not because I didn't think Kermit could coach, but because of his NCAA baggage.

He seems to have kept his nose clean since though. I do think he can coach, though his record at MTSU may not well show it as much as many would like.

If conditions would align where a change is made a year or two down the line I think he would at least warrant consideration.

There is one small problem with this. LSU's season could be over a month before signing day.

no but showing you can get a highly sought after recruit from 1 hour away would give the fan base a little confidence in the future of the program if we were to couple it with 7 or 8 SEC wins...

Fair enough. I am not a Gathers fan. Don't think the has a position in college other than TE.
