Less likely to leave as a sophomore though.

If he hits over .300 next year and continues to play defense, some team could take him high on raw potential alone.

The whole "this is only his 2nd year playing centerfield" narrative will be played up a lot next year.

It is.
Anybody that isn't a major college basketball fan: name the past 3 men's basketball finals winner.

He played outfield several times throughout high school. Not his first time catching a hard hit ball, playing the teams West Ouachita schedules, that's for sure.

Yeah. If Watson keeps getting better in CF, hits well for average and flashes some of that power then he's almost a 5 tool player.

My point was...let's say he's taken in the 10th round..it would hopefully take much more than 10th round money to sign him. If he's taken in the 10th round as a junior he is a sure goner most likely.

If he's taken within the first 5 rounds and that club is willing to pay him, then you almost have to strongly consider leaving.

Thanks Project. I overlooked Bush but take another look at Eric Walker...I think he will be 21 on August 17....does that go past the 45 days?

Until he's a senior and the mlb has lost their leverage, I think he'll get sign=able money both soph and jr year.
He has the leverage. They want him. Even 9-10th round. He's gone unless he sticks to wanting his degree, which is the only reason he made it to campus.

If he improves at all from this year he is a top 2 round pick. That's a year away so we can discuss it later but his speed/defense is going to be at the top of next year's class and the fact that he hit .300 with power as a freshman is going to make him a very high pick.

Of course, but let's just stick with the 10th round BC its what I've been saying.

Drafted in the 10th as a SO. He can demand top round money. If he doesn't get it he can come back and have a shot at improving the draft stock more and gets drafted in, let's say the 4th. Then he's really making bank. (See Deichman as a similar example).

45 days after the draft is 07/26/2018 (If the draft is on the Monday of the same week in June that it normally is).

Okay. Thanks. Pretty much August and later birthdays means they have to come back for 3rd season at LSU

Idk where he got drafted out of high school but that's not bold at all. He has atleast 2 above average tools in his defense and speed (both 60+ on the 20/80 scale). Any game you watch they talk about him almost being ready for the MLB now as a defender. He needs to learn to hit the other way some, but other than that he's already shown atleast an average hit tool and power. If he improves, he will be one of the top 5 tool players in the draft.

Oh how I wish they would improve the baseball scholarships. Its really a joke. I guess nothing will ever be done since nobody gives a damn about baseball.

Does anybody know how many scholarships men's basketball has to give? I think baseball is something like 11.7 (not sure exactly, but thats what I remember).

In basketball, I think the men have 13, women have 15.
I would like to see at least 25 for baseball.
The SEC would support it, but even Florida did not sell out their regional tickets. But most of the SEC does not lose too much on baseball. Elsewhere in the country, it is pure charity.
