Hess looks a lot like Lange size wise and windup wise. Looks to be a quicker worker. Dude looks real good!

Yep I was thinking the same thing. I see a lot of similarities and can only hope he lives up to being as good as Lange. Very similar styles of pitching.

Doesn't have that nasty strikeout curve Lange had as a freshman.

Hess, Gilbert, Peterson is sure looking like a solid set up to Newman come SEC play. Lets hope they keep it up.

I like Kiel also. He's gonna be a starter once Poche and Lange leaves.

Well there is walker, who is already our Sunday starter too.

Just based off of what we have seen so far, I'm guessing Hess on Friday, Walker Saturday, Peterson Sunday next year.

REALLY impressed with FR Peterson, and the way he simply goes about his business on the mound. Not flashy, but he works quickly and consistently pounds the K zone. His P location rarely affords a batter the opp to square up the ball. Pleasure to watch P.

Hess needs to take a page out of Peterson’s play-book. Hess is big and strong, with two very good pitches. He needs to develop that CU, but also be more efficient with his pitches. Don’t waste throws. Get that 80 pitches through 4.2 down to about 65-75 and stay in the game. I heard Ben McDonald comment about his HS K/BB ratio, 10-1. THAT is impressive. With more exp/IP’s at this level, he is going to be a good one.

If Kiel can continue to improve his location he's going to be a monster. Painting the corners at 95+ like he was last night makes him very tough to hit.

ETA: Gilbert seems to have improved his velocity also. He was around 94 last night wasn't he?

I'm liking this freshman class a lot...the pitchers are all solid & the everyday guys have been phenomenal...

To be honest I think Kiel benefited greatly from that umps big arse strike zone last night. He still gets behind in just about every count and needs to work on locating that breaking ball. Great promise though
