Another question is whether Miles can learn from this enormous mistake. He hired Chavis and fixed the defense in a big way. What is he prepared to do now?

Hired Kragthorpe, signed Mett and Kiel.

Good point. Now, can he let Stud and Kragthorpe do their jobs with serious talent in the house?

I cannot stand GG. Even still, every one of his opinion pieces on the QB situation this year has been money. I hate giving that douche credit, but he deserves it. Nailed.

100% agree. They are possibly the only decent pieces I have ever read, but they've been pretty spot on when addressing Les and his JJ love affair.

I don't like the whole "who was a slightly better QB" through comparison of stats angle though. The real key is that Miles changed THE ENTIRE OFFENSE into some retarded version of Oklahoma & Nebraska from the 1980s to build around the strengths of a single player that everyone knew was not very good. Regardless of how good you think Lee was, LSU should have been running the type of offense it had when Lee was in the game--i.e., the same kind of offense that it could have run with Mettenberger.

If you are really in love with JJ and want to do a few drives a game with his options skills, fine, but I think everyone with even a shred of football knowledge realizes that such an offense should not be the MAIN offense for a team at an elite level. Why? Because against great defenses, it will get absolutely stuffed, and you need to work consistently at the pro-style passing game to get good at it.

Miles lied to the fanbase continuously for 3 consecutive years, and he did so because he felt morally superior to us, such that he wanted to spit in our eye and rub in the fact that he could play JJ no matter what. He put his own ego trip before the team and the program, and that is what is so unforgivable.

It's a black mark that will never go away until he gives a full apology, which he never will, so it will never go away.

SPOT ON POST!

For some unknown reason Miles loved JJ. To me and I'm sure 70% of LSU fans it was painfully obvious that Lee should have been the starter LAST year as well with JJ coming in for a change of pace. But Miles continued to force feed us JJ and the JJ propganda. Why? I have no idea.

He threw the ball with Flynn. He'll go back to a more balanced gameplan next year. Miles may not be Vince Lombardi but he wants to win and he'll throw the ball if has a decent QB.

It may take some time to hand control over completely to the OC. I think he's still scarred from 2008. Hopefully Mett and Kiel are enough to get him there.

You cannot argue with this logic. We all knew deep down that our emperor was naked anyhow. What really baffles my mind though that a program like LSU cannot get someone that really understands how to run a offense. Are they really that hard to hire, or does our emperor think that he is really a offensive mind.

did we forget that we just went undfeated for the first time in school history since 1958?

I understand the frustration, but lets not talk down about Miles; his way wins a tons of games.

Not to mention Rivers. We're totally stacked at QB.

Does a man well into his 50's really need to learn a lesson on how when you have a struggling frustrated deer in the head lights quarterback in the National Championship game getting destroyed and a starting QB on the roster who brought you to 7-0 it might be a good time to insert the other QB into the game to see if you can introduce new life into your anemic offense that can't get past the 50 yard line?

What gets me about Miles and his comments saying he constantly had intentions to put JL into this game and that game throughout the year and failed to do so, he never seemed to have a problem finding PT for JJ even in the middle of drives with Lee having the game and drive well under control.

Miles prison raped this QB thing from the day JJ came back on the team to the BCSNCG where it all went to hell in a handbasket and he only had one person to blame, Himself.

Good article. Miles had an agenda and JJ was in it. JL was pushed to the side.

It's become obvious that this was the perfect storm of arrogance(Miles' refusal to play JJ),public interference(Bobby Hebert), and resentment by Miles of the criticism levelled at him about JJ after he gave up the chance to go to Michigan.
I do think he felt forced to take a stand, and prove he was running the show.
And that all culminated in the debacle we witnessed Monday night.

LSU had quick starts that led to dominating victories in the first eight games under Lee, who threw 10 of his 14 touchdowns in first halves. Jefferson threw two touchdowns in his five first halves and led LSU to one first down in its last two first halves. Lee threw 14 touchdowns on the season. Jefferson threw six and had only 13 over his last two seasons.

I don't think is true. He thought his choice was the best thing for the team. The problem was he was obviously wrong. I suspect that Miles makes his talent evaluations from practice and just assumes that they will be the same in games. It was reported that JJ looked like a world beater at the Manning camp, but this never materialized in games. Clearly Miles needs to learn that some players are better/worse in games. We've seen JJ get more playing time than was warranted, but we've also seen a number of players that seemed to make plenty of plays just not get the calls. This also might explain the amount of playing time that Karnell Hatcher was getting.
