Here is why Coach O thought we were good in camp

Our offense was playing our defense. Neither of which are very good - so both are offense and defense could make plays and look good.

Just look how good these mediocre units made UCLA look on both sides of the ball.

In camp, instead of "steel sharpening steel" it was dull knives slicing butter.

Plus the new coordinators are still in training wheels - never run teams and never had to call plays in real time

It was known by people watching some of the practices that the OL could be a major weakness.

After the first scrimmage, Orgeron came out and said that the OL getting dominated was based on things that could be fixed. That, apparently was a lie.

How do you explain the pathetic Stingley play that gave up a TD? He is an all American and had a player in front of him on the sidelines and did not try seriously to tackle him. I say the lack of effort by some players is a big issue. Also the lack adjustments (like using different players or play calling) on both offense and defense was mind boggling.

Stingley wouldn't practice and his dad was all over the radio saying if it were a big SEC game he would be practicing. Not surprised at all about his lack of effort.

It is, but you know whos job it is to make sure our players are ready to play and give 100% effort right? It all falls back on thw coaches. Dp you think saban would allow that type of bs? Hell no. He would be all over stingleys arse the same way he would if he were a walk on.

He hinted all along to offensive line problems. He did also make the defense sound great which they aren’t

Honestly, I don't care why O thought we were so good in camp. He says Max reminds him of Burrow so then Max has a ton of pressure on him, he knows what Burrow did. The fanbase expects, unreasonably, Max to be like Burrow and then when that doesn't happen, Max gets roasted because of unrealistic expectations from the head coach. Being supportive is one thing, but to put that sort of pressure on a kid who was making his third start isn't fair to that kid. I know that and I've never played football in my life. Look at how jittery Max was last night. He didn't play like that last season.

O is blind if he thinks we've improved on defense, as a whole. I will admit there are a few bright lights but as a whole, the defense looks just like it did last year.

The one thing that hasn't changed is the head coach.

So is it up to the coordinators to coach the players or what? The head coach sure can't do it. Too busy gnawing on his thumbnail and looking at the field.

I'm tired of him saying what he'd say to recruits to the fanbase. "We'll get it fixed. Put it on me."

Well people are putting it on you. When do you think you're going to get around to fixing things? You've only had over a year to do it.

I have no faith that he can fix anything.

It's unreal how we went from 2019 to this. I mean that's flat out embarrassing.

I don't believe a word he says now. I mean coach speak is one thing but what he was saying is just dumb.
