I'm glad I grew up in a time when reporters only reported the news. If they had an opinion it had to be treated as such and was announced as an Editorial never to be confused as reporting the news. When I read GG's article it reveals most of what he is writing is not the truth because he does not know the facts. I feel sorry for all you young readers who have grown up never experiencing when news was just reported without the reporters opinion involved.

But it is obvious that at the moment they thought it was permanent, TM very likely told them, "I'm not sitting out, I'll transfer and go pro." That would explain the permanent statements. When he came back and asked if he could still sit out and have coming back on the team as an option, the permanent was no longer permanent.
you got it
Glenn (and a poster on TD) were banking on the Banshen's response to the question as being the end all be all, but it wasn't. He didnt fail a 4th test, therefore, he had the option to stay and serve the suspenion or leave. He chose the latter then changed his mind.

Who is this VC fella?
VC is big time. He owns a consulting firm. He consults all kinds of different things. If you need to know what's going on, consult with him.

What's the deal?
He's the Rex/DA/Otto of the sports reporting industry.
Say a bunch of controversial anti-LSU stuff and watch his name stay in the limelight because of it.
When it settles down, repeat.

Thank you Herb Vincent.
it's high time somebody put that scum bag in his place. i concede gg's need and right to make a living he just often slams LSU w/o knowing what the hell he is talking about. when he incorrectly slams the university i have a degree from and the university i love, i take major offense. i have sworn to myself to never read anything else by this guy and it will not be hard to continue my boycott. i invite all LSU fans to join me in this endeavor.

Oh, and he has degrees from LSU and Tulane

and i feel sorry for america. one of the foremost reasons that our politicians make outlandish and shocking statements against their opponents is that they 100% know that many voters will actually believe them to be true whether there is any truth to them or not. one day all that will be needed to overthrow our government is more dumb voters and more euphamisms.

I was never a GG hater - until I just read the hack piece that douche wrote that Herb was responding to.
Count me now amongst the legions of Rantard GG haters.

the altercation following the discussion of the one year suspended is what earned him the "permanent" dismissal. everyones emotions were running high and cooler heads prevailed over the next couple of days

I don't know anything about any of this shite and i'm not defending a known douchebag. However, after reading GG's column & the almost immediate response from HV, he must have hit pretty close to home somewhere. Seriously, this guy has written some pretty dumb shite over the years that also deserved direct responses.
Check out the following. He writes this as though it's fact:
Again, writing as though it's factual.
Here he's clearly speculating:
It's almost as though he's telling LSU he knows something and they are telling him to shut up. The last line of HV's response basically says it,:
Of course....i could just have too much time on my hands today and speculating into speculation could have lead to this damn headache.
Check out the following. He writes this as though it's fact:
quote:
Then Mathieu went to Lake Charles, and everything changed. Mathieu returned depressed and asked coaches if there was some way he could come back to LSU for the 2013 season.
Again, writing as though it's factual.
quote:
Mathieu was told he could go to LSU in the fall, but he'd have to pay his own way.
Here he's clearly speculating:
quote:
Then LSU people may have told Mathieu there was a chance he could return to the team in 2013, if only to give him some hope. That is understandable if LSU did that. LSU meant well if it did that, but it was not being straight with Mathieu or with anyone else.
It's almost as though he's telling LSU he knows something and they are telling him to shut up. The last line of HV's response basically says it,:
quote:
Sometimes, when the well being of a young man or young woman is at stake, a little patience, a little restraint and a little more responsibility could serve a reporter — and in turn his readers — well.
Of course....i could just have too much time on my hands today and speculating into speculation could have lead to this damn headache.

Awesome reply. GG is the worst of the worst of all that is awful.

As did Bahnsen, the compliance director. You know, the guy who is in charge of telling LSU who is eligible and who isn't.
do we actually know what he said, or what GG reported? Because journalists are known for stopping quotes too quickly, or starting them too late to intentionally miss context. Some will even take chunks of text out of a quote.

I would like to meet GG in person, in a dark alley. I think I could take him.
