Then why are we playing him if he's this bad? Is there something you know that the coaches don't?
You're not seriously asking this are you? Seriously? With a straight face?

Is this a joke? Herb Tyler without question. Outside of Rohan Davey, I would want Herb Tyler over any quarterback who has started a game within the last 10 years.
Marcus Randall versus JJ would be the more appropriate comparison.

It must be the infamous photo of Miles in some compromising situation...my favorite call in question to an LSU coach's show ever.
I have been baffled by this question for two agonizing and frustrating seasons. I suspect we will never learn the answer.

So true I think watching JJ play quarterback is just brutal. You just want to look away! Even more so when the passes start hitting at receivers feet, behind them and way over their head for int's and then when Lee finally gets in u see JJ sulking and pouting on the sidelines like he has been wronged. Just want to go up to him and ask for a refund of your ticket for being forced to watch him attempt to play qb! Brutal

I assume you mean agonizing and frustrating QB play the last two seasons. And that would be fair.
I would offer the very real possiblity that JJ will play at a higer level and much more consistently in Krag's system this year.
We just may learn the answer come January.

I hope your prediction comes to pass. However, I have watched every game the past two seasons, including the spring games, and I would be shocked to see marked improvement.

Herb vs JJ is such an easy choice for anyone who watched both play. Like someone else said, Herb on last year's team and we mightve played for a NC.
Randall vs JJ is the more difficult decision, but I'd still go with Randall. The offenses suffer under either one, but even under Randall I think it was better. Never can I recall LSU being so bad on offense for 2 years straight. Randall was a better leader and a better passer, and probably could run better had Jimbo used him that way.
As for this year, I expect an improved offense, but still not a good offense. JJ is a senior and we have a new OC, so that should be good for offensive ranking in the 80s. I think Crowton is an awful QB coach, but I'm just not sure how much better Krag can make JJ in just one offseason.

I would agree with the above post. While I dont argue that Crowton was lax in developing qb's some of the blame has to fall on the qb.
I mean completing the bubble screen is an easy throw (other than JJ) just takes repetition and work. For JJ to consistently throw behind the receiver, at his feet, over his head smacks to me of lack of work and preparation the on his part.

I recall we had a miserable year winning maybe 3 or 4 games with a couple of those Ws vs weak OOC.
I think we started that season in maybe the Top 5 or so and the bottom just fell out with some close, heart breaking L's that spelled the beginning of the end for GD.
I'm not much for trying to compare different players from different times/teams cause there are just too many variables to try and account for, but one thing I think that's pretty clear to me is that the SEC/SEC West of today is a whole hell of a lot tougher today than it was in the mid to late 90ies. 5 NC in 5 years by 4 different SEC schools say that loud and clear.imo

Very true and accurate statement, Rudy40.
But I would present the argument that it also take sound fundamentals to be an accurate QB (ie. proper footwork, consistent release point, and a dozen other throwing mechanics).
Everything that I have heard coming out of the LSU Spring Practices is: 1. Jefferson is a hard worker and has been putting in the time need to improve. And 2. Krags is a much better QB instructor and specializes in technique.
If those two things are being done efficiently, then I see no reason why JJ could not improve his play in 2011. And I also think the end of 2010 supports this theory.
I also think its fair to question JJ's ability based on past performance.

I respect your opinion and hopefully it turns out to be true. I am just skeptical on some of the reports coming out as Les seems tied to the hip with JJ and I believe he is doing everything PR wise to avoid a qb controversy.
Again hopefully you turn out to be correct for LSU's sake but for now we will have to agree to disagree.
PS which part of Htown you in JROD? I spent several years in Clear Lake and just moved back to BR!

I live in Clear Lake. South Shore Harbour.
Still have my season tickets to LSU football tho.

Question...yes.
Continually calling him out over and over and over as some feel the need to do is more than a little over the top. imo
Everyone in the free world knows that the LSU QB slot had some poor performances in 2010...it's not a news flash to anyone.
It is what it is and knocking JJ/JL to the cows come home is not gonna change one freaking thing.
Our QB slot should be deeper, more talented than at any time in the past 3 seasons, and we have new OC... I would think most LSU fans would be excited bout those facts and just wait to see what the season brings, but each to our own.
