per Dandy Don:
LSU will be playing nationally ranked Xavier at the PMAC Saturday afternoon in a very important game for LSU, and it's importance extends beyond basketball. LSU will be entertaining eight to 10 football recruits including the nation's top wide receiver, Rueben Randle, and the number two rated running back in the nation in Trent Richardson from Pensacola , Florida. I hope that Tiger fans will arrive early in the PMAC with signs saying that we need Randle and Richardson. I believe that the Randle family would be very impressed if the fans would chant Rueben, Rueben several times during the game.
We need to pack the PMAC and keep it loud for them....

I understand about impressing the recruits, but I hope it doesn't take away from the fact they're there to support the basketball team...just sayin'.

+ 1 ......This is a really good idea...people dont realize how much this impresses recruits.

This is one of the biggest hoops games of the year... I find this aidea of using the game for football recruiting embarrassing. Do we really care so little about basketball that we would chant for football recruits while we should be cheering for our basketball team???
This is sad.

Nationally speaking, a national championship in basketball would bring so much more exposure to the University(compared to national championship in baseball). Again, from a national perspective:
1- Football
2- Basketball
3- Baseball

I agree with Stro. Even with LSU fielding great baseball teams you don't hear anything about them on the major sports networks until the regionals begin. Prior to that its like there is no such a thing as college baseball. So if you want to look at national exposure, basketball >>>>>>>>>>>> baseball.

If you want national exposure flash a news camera.
LSU:
1 football
2 baseball
3 basketball
That being said, I hope the Tiger basketball team wins the national championship. They are very important to me. Geaux Tigers!

Also, I'm obviously going to the game, and I'm going to also cheer my arse off. However, I'm going to be cheering on guys like Temple, Mitchell, Johnson, etc that have busted their tails for this University over the last 3-4 years. These 17-18 year old recruits are getting plenty of attention elsewhere and this game should be about BASKETBALL.

That's just dumb. National exposure is huge for every school, both athletically and academically.

ok, so when was the last time espn aired a non-post season college baseball game for lsu? Also look at revenues generated from each. Baseball isn't even close.

We do both. It is simply to recognize that the recruits are there.
