As it has already been stated, even if you adhere strictly to the CMYK or RGB scale set out by LSU, variances in fabric, printing process, dye composition, etc. between companies will create variances in how we percieve the shades of those colors. Sometimes those variances are slight. Sometimes they're more dramatic.
Don't worry. Les has not lost control of the colors.

In 1956 LSU wore purple jerseys. Dietzel did not like purple
Was not my issue with who I responded to. Nobody ever claimed that the color purple was drastically changed. The issue was the Old Gold to Yellow transition.
Yes,LSU wore purple jerseys in some years prior to Dietzel. They also wore ALL Old gold at different times well before Dietzel. He may have disliked the purple, but the change in actual color scheme came from his changing the old gold into yellow.

The change was made to avoid purple. LSU had two uniforms under Dietzel. White jersey, goldenrod pants ... and all golden rod. After the 1956 season, Dietzel's teams never wore purple jerseys.
He even wanted to change the school colors to blue and gold.

Just stop.
He didn't change from old gold to yellow to avoid purple.

Are you really using a colorized photo to demonstrate what LSU colors looked like?

Just to further this color conversation, after changing from the Old Gold to a yellow, LSU went from a darker hue of yellow to the brighter "canary yellow" somewhere around the turn of the eighties.
The yellow was a darker version in the 60's and 70's
