Tiger Ree will be shortly to tell you the Bonus is too small... He's the best OC in the country.

How many redzone TD's did LSU have against UCF? That would be zero. How many redzone attempts? That would be 4. That stat right there is Ensminger's redzone production in a nutshell

So

What was the score again I forget?

Criticizing Ensminger strictly for his performance means you deserve personal attacks?

This season has proven you're simply a mean poster Ben. For whatever reason, you prefer to attack other fans and players instead of laying an ounce of criticism at the feet of the staff. I know there are some people here that get under your skin, but you need to be a better poster and not stoop to the same level. It's a bad look man.

LSU won that despite a terrible redzone offense. But once again you are avoiding the topic at hand. We are discussing SE's bonus for redzone offense. The numbers don't lie. Ensminger's TD percentage in the redzone was terrible. All year long LSU settled for field goals. All year long LSU couldn't punch in TD's.

This should be a wake up call to all y’all MFers that want a NCAA14 Xbox offense...

how many games did that mighty ole miss offense win for them?? Teams are just built different, and as a result, win games in different ways

This can't be a serious post.

You need a prolific offense to win NCs. Period.

Then do that. Point to what reason you think he's a shitty OC. Don't personally attack the man.

This is so much bullshite and I'm sick of fricking hearing it. I post about areas that I think need improvement and what I think should happen for that improvement to take place. It's a bullshite narrative that I attack players but go ahead and roll with it. If I think a player isn't ready to start or is playing out of position it's not bashing that player. Given more time in the system all players have a chance to improve. The same posters that accuse me of bashing players are all up in the Giles threads or the Greedy threads trashing those players but they're not hypocrites no siree.

There's a difference between criticism and personal attacks.

Joe Alleva's negotiation and contract skills are very, very suspect. He doesn't have the business accumen to be a level 1 supervisor at most companies.

How do you

a.) allow field goals to count towards red zone scoring %? When you enter the redzone, you are officially in field goal range for every kicker in the ncaa.

b.) set performance bonuses without ANY qualifier. For instance - in order to achieve bonuses, total offense must be in the top 30 etc etc.

just wow.

Yeah, it's hard to fault Slinger when his agent negotiated such an goofy incentive, yet Alleva agreed.

I guess much better offensive metrics like yards per play are too hard to grasp for Alleva.

LSU scored 88% of the time in the red zone.

53 out of 60 trips to the redzone.

31 of those trips they scored TDs. For 52%

Joe passed for 2900 yards and 16 touchdowns with 5 interceptions.

He did this in spite of getting sack 34 times. Only one QB in the SEC was sacked more and he was sacked 35 times.

Joe'e performance was good for 4th best in LSU history if I'm not mistaken.

I could point to positions all over the field that struggled but everybody knows or should know that.

With the personnel on the field Steve didn't do a terrible job.

His worst game was the bama game where his gameplan failed and he couldn't find anything that worked. The playcalling was horrible.

"Not terrible" doesn't earn bonuses for most people.

No doubt due, in part, to our outdated scheme.

how do you quantify this?

quote:

Yea, because no one ever sat there and tried to figure out why Joe was holding onto the ball so long. It was always someone elses fault he got sacked.

Yea, im looking at their recruiting rankings - expert analysis of their overall skill level - definitely not matching up with the performance - who's fault is that?

find? as though he was looking for some other idea? looked to me like he kept on calling the same ole - then orgeron said after the game that Bama's just too good.... and then, ofcourse we saw Clemson

That's not too bad if you take into consideration that he went 1/3 of the season without a passing touchdown. At the same time that is a pretty bad look for SE. How do you let your offense go 1/3 of the season without a passing touchdown?

Maybe he should have said typically bad. As in your typical 110th to 60th ranked offense that we've come to expect from LSU. The offense we all know and love, apparently.

I mean we were 20 yards per game off from being 5th in the sec in total yards.
5-6-7-8-9th
Diff was 23 yards.

Wouldn’t call that bad.
Where we want to be? Of course not.
Bad? Nah.

Context

It's always about context. Expectations are always relative to past success and recruiting classes.

Are there 5 other teams in the SEC that have an average nationally ranked recruiting class of #8 over the past 10 years?

LSU is in the best conference in the power 5, has a national brand, is 14th in college football program-win-percentage all-time, has had recent success, has multiple national championships, is the only college football program of any significance in a state that produces more NFL talent than any other in the nation(per capita), is a program that has more NFL players then any other college football program year in and year out and has one of the best home field advantages in the nation.

Yet, yet we shouldn't expect a competent offense? An offense that can't even break 50th nationally in total offense in 11 straight tries(save 2013)?

Again, LSU's average recruiting class ranking over the past 10 or 11 years is #8. If that can't produce a top-15 offense not one time, much less a top 40 offense, then there's a serious problem with coaching. This is why I jump everybody's arse that utters the words "no talent" and "LSU" in the same sentence. It infuriates me even more when these Ponamsky PR agents point to the OL as the problem when we just watched a Clemson team with almost the exact same number of recruiting stars in that same position group, completely dominate an Alabama team that always dominates LSU.

That's nice. Kind of like being the skinniest kid at fat camp.

You do know that Joe Burrow has all the high school football passing records in the state of Ohio, right? There's no reason at all he shouldn't be #1 or #2 in all-time passing at a historically run-first program like LSU during a time in college football when the rules, TV networks, NCAA, quality QB coaching , health, nutrition and training and current trend in scheme all favor passing and quarterbacking.

Maybe they should start giving him bonuses for every offensive point he scores against Alabama.
