I just discovered the world of TTM (Through the Mail) autograph collecting. My son recently sent Matt Mauck something and he got it back in 8 days.

Curious who all on the TD does this as well.

Disclaimer: Yes, it is possible an assistant, wife, friend signs for people. I am not saying that doesnt happen, but to a 8 year old Tiger Fan it was cool to get something back.

Never done it before but that’s cool for kids. I got an autograph from Kyle Williams at LSU when I was a kid and I remember it was huge to me.

All I need is a autographed Rohan davey and Corey Webster mini helmet and my collection will be complete. I always bought mine on eBay with the certificates. That is cool for them to send them back and yes for a kid that is awesome.

Greedy needs to think about his future. He could get a paper cut or writer’s cramp.

It became a hobby of mine when I was going through a pretty deep depression. It allowed me to escape in ways that meds and seeing a therapist couldn’t. It’s a great, healthy hobby. Even collecting in person is fun, but it’s tough to see dealers out in person at a game. It’s about kids, and fans, not money.

Anywho...here are some Tigers I have returns from:

Jim Taylor
Mike Anderson
Ron Sancho
Ron Estay
Matt Mauck
David Lafleur
Josh Reed
Tommy Casanova
Jerry Stovall
Bert Jones
Charles Alexander
Les Miles
Paul Dietzel
Roy Winston
Max Fugler
Wendell Davis
Nacho Albergamo
YA Tittle
Robert Dugas
Mike Demarie
John Demarie
Steve Ensminger
Todd Kinchen
Tommy Hodson
Jeff Wickersham
Michael Brooks
Eric Martin
Carlos Carson
Doug Moreau
George Bevan
Billy Truax
John Ed Bradley
Earl Groh
George Tarasovic

Probably some others...some of these guys are more than happy to share their experiences.

I have an extensive Lsu sports illustrated collection. Have everyone that has LSU athlete on cover signed by that athlete...although Dale Brown signed the one with Don Redden on cover.

Although LSU wasn't on cover of 1958 preseason guide I bought it and mailed it to Coach Dietzel. He signed it and had a few of his players sign it and mailed it back. Pretty cool. Same thing for Laron Landry when he was with Redskins.

I am missing Jordan Jefferson and Lavalais issue signatures if anyone on here knows them.

Handwritten letter works best. Typed up can give the impression of a form letter.

It helps to let them know about you (I.e. graduate, fan, etc). I’ve always been a big fan of LSU football history, so I go into that a little bit.

I will enclose a couple of cards. Always with a self-addressed and stamped envelope. Sometimes I ask a few questions, and every now and then they will enclose a note back.

There are some websites dedicated to this stuff. Fanmail.biz is a pretty popular one. People below post successes and failures.

With former Tigers, I have had pretty good luck. It’s quite different than sending to a guy currently in the NFL or something.
