Van Lith is the Thatcher Hurd of this team.

LSU baseball had to keep shoving Hurd out there bc he would be pivotal if/when he got it together as a starter. Imagine where LSU baseball would have been without Hurd down the stretch and especially in Omaha. They could've shelved him months before but they knew they needed him.

LSU WBB has to keep shoving Van Lith out there bc she's going to be pivotal if/when she gets it together as a PG. Imagine this team without her, relying exclusively on Poa at PG or having to put Mikaylah on the ball more and pulling Morrow away from the basket more.

Bingo. She has improved every aspect of her game!

HVL's hustle on the defensive end has been exemplary.
Guards (most of them) have had trouble getting around her. She just won't let them. She draws bad foul calls because she doesn't back off and there's a lot of contact that's usually initiated by the offensive player.

I'm perfectly OK with Van Lith shooting more, too.

Her one drawback is she's not as quick as some of guards she's being matched against.

HVL has not played PG against guards as fast, quick and defensively elite as she will face tomorrow night, it could be an issue for her. SC hounds the opposing PG's to death on defense and attacks them on offense. Poa might need to come in to settle things down for LSU if HVL can't handle the defensive pressure at PG. I could see KM trying HVL at SG some also but she wont get many open looks there either. Williams is the one that SC will struggle to match up with defensively. I could see AR getting in foul trouble in this game, SC has 5 players to rotate through the paint.
