Had it been Simon instead of TM7...

I think we would have been in a much worse situation defensively and it's not even close. TM7 was a playmaker no doubt but I don't think it's gonna be hard to find somebody else that can step in and play that nickel back role effectively (I'm looking at you Eugene). Just look at Ron Brooks in the Auburn game. TM7 was a big loss but it's not as bad as people think. This won't make or break our season.

Ron Brooks was a talented very fast SENIOR...I don't see the comparison with unproven freshman playing in the SEC

From a purely defensive performance standpoint I agree with you. However, TM7 brought intangibles that the defense will miss certainly during the first half the season. Other leaders will emerge as the season goes on.
We will also miss him on special teams, both in terms of yardage and being a real game changer. These times of players in the return game are not a dime a dozen.

You need to watch TM7's highlight video on YouTube, then ask yourself if this is a stupid post. Lsu lost a big time football player, he will be missed on the field and in the lockerroom.

Ok chief, we all want to believe that but the fact is losing a Heisman finalist from or team or any team will hurt. There will be a drop off with a new person taking his spot..no one has done what he did in two seasons as a ballhawk on defense. We need to look past this and cheer on the team we have and hope other players can fill the void he left

How many times do people need to say that TM7 is a playmaker for you clowns to get it? Sure, Simon is a nice cover guy and all, but LSU will miss Mathieu's extraordinary ability to cause TO's and just plain wreak havoc! This guy's penchant for making plays changed the outcome or turned the tide in a few games LSU played last year!
