My wife is a die hard and was close to the program way back. Beam has been LSU’s Achilles heal since the early 2000s, but gymnastics scoring has always been and will continue to be a joke until they come up with a different system. Reputation of a gymnast and even teams in certain events, accounts for a ton of scoring. It’s laughable how subjective it is.

I hesitate to say it, but I would consider removing Sierra if we have someone more polished for the leadoff.

I was with you until here. Sierra has earned her spot in the floor lineup. She has been consistent all season.

I can be convinced otherwise on this…and really only if we have someone who clearly outnperforms her, because I do think she has been very consistent this year also (hence my hesitation); but when you just look at the execution of the other three tonight, you see the difference.

This has been a common issue for us in the Finals, we just do not hit landings on Bars and Beam like our opponents.
bunch of crap routines and stuck landing and everyone goes wild, including judges. Tough well done routine but a step and it’s death.

Way too much emphasis on landings. Fans should get fooled, not judges

But this is where judging drives me crazy. Sierra went two pass, I assume from a 10 start value, and had two solid landings, but only scored a 9.8125? How?

I don't like sports that relies on judges scoring the participant. Usually can't see what they see. So not sure if they are being objective

Gymnastics, figure skating, diving come to mind.

I hear you but when you bounce out and take clear steps on your landings, you are giving easy tenths away.

3rd OU gymnast in the first rotation on vault took a big step on the landing and got a 9.885. Knew they had it in the bag 5 minutes in.

Oklahoma's vaults must have been otherwise perfect, because almost all of them took steps, and I think they averaged 9.9 through that rotation.

.8625 needs to be hung somewhere in the gymnastics facility. That's .044 per gymnast per event. That's what it would've taken to win. Just give 4.5% better next year in everything they do and they can be Champs.

Amen.

If you get one percent better each day for one year, you'll end up thirty-seven times better

I'm sure she'd make more if she wasn't a college athlete.

Oklahoma has also perfected the continued movement into the next dance move on the floor. When they go for a huge move, they just “glide” into some movement right after so as not to have to stick any landing. This seems to work wonders with the judges.

My question is why aren't other schools following suit? OU has been getting away with this for years, so we don't we start doing it as well?

At least Jay changed several floor routines to 2 passes. If you can’t beat ‘em, join ‘em! I like watching 3 pass routines much more, but why take unnecessary risks? Seems to me, though, that 2 pass routines should have a lower start value, aka vault.

Has Livvy Dunne competed at all this year?

Are you jealous that she makes more money than you?
