I think Aranda puts it together this year. Might have counted on Chaisson too much last season. I believe in him

I agree, I think it was a personnel issue. I have faith in Aranda.

Bingo.

However it might drop his value in the future

Be careful son!

But why do you hold E to the standard of being the best, and you dont hold the highest paid assistant in the nation. Thats insane, you immature brat. In fact its dumb. You want our university to pay a guy top money, to be good. Where else does this apply, you fcking idiot? Did you just say that?

Be mature for now on.

The Louisville game in 2016 was his pinnacle. Attacking, high pressure.. it hasn't been the same since

Auburn and A&M had decent offenses, not great. Auburn was worse than LSU.

You were comparing our defense to Miami, who plays against ACC competition. Of course their defense is going to be better.

Guilbeau having an opinion is like an a-hole having an a-hole. Redundant.

There are a few things that people forget

1. he has been here 3 years. How many people are better over that 3 year period?

2. the A&M game is a statistical outlier. WE had a top 10 scoring defense outside the A&M game. It counts, but I don't think it represents the quality of DA's work last season. 12/13 games we were very very good.

3. Bob Shoop had the #2 defense in the county last year and the #86 the year before. Jimmys and Joes' have a lot to do with this, especially on defense. I think on defense more than anything. You don't have to be a great play caller when your front 4 is Clemson or Miss State good. We haven't had the DL than any of these top schools have had, but we have had a top 10 defense over the last three years.

No, I said Miami has an average offense and great defense

So did Iowa, Michigan State and Mississippi State (who played in the SEC West)

I don't. I don't think many (any?) do. This is a straw man.

He was outfoxed by Mullen last year,

we gave 6 second half points.

the offense gave up as many points as the defense in the 2nd half and you blame the defense?

the offense threw back to back ints in the 2nd half and you blame the defense?

the defense started the 2nd half with a takeaway and you blame the defense?

the offense gave the ball away 3 times and you blame the defense?

the defense took the ball away once and you blame the defense?

wow.

Well said Todd, I totally agree. I realize its most likely a personnel issue and we shouldnt just do a snapshot evaluation. I was just defending the article from another poster. The article never exaggerated or pointed fingers....it just raised some serious food for thought. It was well done, even though I dont like Guilbeau. And I do like Aranda. Dude is smart and will figure it out.

The head coach promised the best OC.

Seems fair and accurate. I just wanted Aranda's great defense to stop the fAggies once in OT and he failed.

what the hell are you talking about?

the defense held a&m to fgs in 2 of the 1st 4 ots.

you do understand how cfb does their ot right? holding the offense to a fg is a win by the defense.

everyone did but that didn't happen. Having our defense on the field, up 7, Aranda as DC, less than 2 min and over 80 yards to go I liked our chances...didn't you?

will you ever stop expecting the defense to be perfect so that the offense can be garbage?

So, if you hold E to that standard, then why not the highest paid assistant in the nation?

Look, Aranda is great, and I suspect he will right the ship, but with that salary, I expect the best. My opinion.

Thank you for keeping it mature. i appreciate that.
And YESSS I agree he is a straw man. Just saying Aranda needs to be held to the highest standard, regardless of any other personnel. And....I think he will perform that way. But the article is on point.

OPINION: LSU defensive coordinator Dave Aranda remains popular, but he has underachieved

he's done very well, but not as well as I expected when he came from Wispy with 3 straight top 5 defenses. We've been very good....not elite

But no reason to believe this D won't be at the top

Eta - I wouldn't trade aranda for any other DC
