I mean as if they are not trying to correct the offense already, and why at the same time can they not correct defensive issues? I dont understand this. Its a football team you work on all aspects.

The very fact that you think something needs to be "corrected" and/or is an "issue" about the defense is what's asinine. You're expressing a lot of concern about a splinter in someone's right-hand thumb when their left arm has been cut off and they're bleeding profusely from the wound. It's wasted effort, but you keep doing you.

Then why does Aranda have those same concerns. Im just repeating what is occurring on LSUs def. This is not my doing or decision. Pay attention, pumpkin.

Because he's a professional, and wants to continue successful performance. Why else?

Aww, that's cute. I love the mouth breathing portion of our fan base.

Why are you consumed with how much Aranda's getting paid?

Because thats what that article was about. And because its the most in history. Gold I appreciate your opinion, but this is blatantly obvious. I'll retire from this thread. See you on another thread.

You're consumed with something because of a Guilbeau article? That's pathetic.

what you're saying is that due to the total lack of investment on the offensive side of the ball, Aranda's D has to be lights out game in and game out to make up for it...shouldn't the focus be more on WHY LSU, especially beginning Year 3 of a regime that was hired because the old regime had failed to update the offense, is still not spending the necessary money on coaching salaries to make it possible to win at an elite level without an NFL level D?

Well sure. 100%

But the thread was about arandas performance in a vacuum. Which doesn't meet the expectations when he was brought in...nor when he received his extension.

I feel like I'm bashing aranda. Which is not my intent, I love the guy. Wouldn't trade him for anyone else. We've just dug our self into a situation that we have to reverse offensively, otherwise he has to make a top10-15 defense onto a top 3 defense.

We focus on the defense because Aranda doesnt get a free ride either just because he was labeled the best 3 years ago.

Who's suggesting anyone get a free ride?

What I'm saying, and have been this entire thread, is that arguing about whether or not the best coach on staff has produced the best defense in the country thus fully earning his highest salary is like worrying about the bird that crapped on your car while your house is on fire. We have OTHER BIGGER priorities first, and until those get addressed with on the field results, why does this even matter?

This point regarding Aranda may be 100% true...but to what end? Until the offense even begins to pull it's own weight, why does it even matter?

Which brings us to this...

quote:

What kind of conspiracy theorist stuff is this. Why would anyone do this? Why would it be so important for me to distract you? Its just a simple article about Aranda stepping up his game.

Because for a while now there have been some in the fan base unhappy that Aranda as seen as the most competent coach in the building. Can't have that. You could see it as he got tossed under the bus last year...even while we went weeks without a passing TD under our former TE's coach who was bumped up to OC.

My biggest gripe is that given Glenn Guilbeau is arguably the biggest hemorrhoid to have been given a press pass to LSU, why are we even arguing his stupid point at all? He's only ever been a shite stirrer. This was written to cause trouble.

quote:

Its alot of money, dude.

It all is. FWIW, despite the notion that many think we're overpaying for Aranda, I'm damn glad we are. There's a reason we had to throw all the banks at him. I hate to think of where we'd be as a program right now had he bailed and we hired the Steve Ensminger equivalent for that side of the ball. Disagree?

Which is weird because the entire premise this coach was hired on was that we'd get great coordinators. Now people say the one guy holding up his end of the bargain needs to shape up.

Every coach in the country can improve, so people need to stop hiding behind that premise. Who needs to improve is the question, and the answer is the offense.

I think the only thing we can do to corect the defense issues i stay health and recruit more.

I don't think it is a coaching issue.

Are we overpaying aranda? IF you think the best coach should be paid the most sure,

But realistically he gets 2.5 million because he is one of the 3-5 best defensive coordinators out there, and the only one of those 3-5 that we realistically could get. Plus it kept him from A&M.

I think us taking a step back at DC and A&M taking a big step forward would have been very bad.

Well they can't really be worse than last year, so they will certainly improve.

We were promised a great offense. If that happens I will acknowledge it.

We need 39 points a game to play for the NC. That should be the goal to shoot for. Burrow says were going to get 40, 50 points a game. That'd be amazing to see.

I agree with Guilbeau. Highest paid in the country for top 40 results = underachieved. He's definitely the best coach in the building and I'm not defending Orgeron or Guilbeau with this opinion.

Shoop and Grantham and arguably Kevin Steele have put better defenses on the field the last 2 years.

He was outcoached by Jimbo and has been outcoached by Mullen for 3-4 straight years.
