We have a good class coming in to back up an excellent 2017 class. Should have enough depth and experience will be slightly better. Then with the 2018 class we should be set for a long while.
I like the 17 class.

But, I looked at the 18 one.

ETA:
Let me correct myself. I was on my phone and missed a bit. The class isn't as bad as I thought although certainly not spectacular. But, it might be pretty decent to what we need.

Very sobering. LSU should get rid of whoever was in charge of recruiting over the past four years.

It seems if my DL was gassed because of depth, I would have made certain to take more time off the clock than 1:01 for a drive and 1:21 for a drive in the third. Maybe called a time out.

Says this week we will slow the offense down to help the D, why was this being shouted at the TV by every one I was with on Saturday and now we decide it is a good idea.

But you can't play every down in the SEC and behind that is a bunch of average.

It should have concerned you that we missed out on all of those DL from the 2017 class then.

You and your shiny star rankings. We are 6 months away from signing day. Where has those shiny stars gotten us in the last several years. We need trench men, nor 15 dbs

Shiny star ratings matter. It directly correlates to the top teams in the country every year, minus a few outliers.

Sure, there is small anecdotal mouth breather evidence people spew like "OMG JACOB HESTER!", but in the end, talent is the most important thing in college football.

We do need trench men, but we need talented trench men.

I don't think this is a "bad recruiting class", but it is certainly not great and certainly below expectations when you consider recruiting is supposed to be Orgeron's main strength and it has gotten worse since he took over.

So O being HC instead of recruiting coordinator insulates him from criticism for the misses in that class now??? Just trying to keep up

Yes. Some of it.

Some of it is on attrition of the last year.

Some of it is on Joe Alleva for making Miles a lame duck during the 2015 season....he was carried off the field, everyone..including recruits, thought he was a goner.

O had the program since last September, the call the the JUCO ranks should have been made then. This lack of depth issue seems to have just snuck up on everyone in the last few days.

6 DL in the 2018 committed class (3-DT, 1-SDE, 2-WDE). That along with Shelvin and Fehoko, to add with Lawrence, Logan, and Alexander will be fine. Adding one more "ready to play" JUCO DL would also increase depth.

Now the OL, that's a different story. You are playing 5 guys at ALL times compared to 3 (or 4) on DL. That puts us in a world of hurt. 3 committed for 2018 (1-C, 1-G, 1-T). To just begin to get on the right track again, we likely need at least 2 more recruits, and need 2 JUCO that could step up and provide immediate depth. Getting early playing time for Ingram, Charles, and Deculus definitely helps for their experience, but we have a definite depth problem at OL that needs immediate attention.

Something tells me O is going work his arse off to fix the trenches. We will see if he is given enough time. He's almost got the DL up to speed (def helped with LB depth too)...but OL dear lord. Should have fired Grimes already. I think Rob Sale would be great, grew up with him in Monroe. He would certainly help with recruiting in that area.

Recruiting isn't the problem keeping the players on the team is the problem.

Most of the attrition occured under Orgeron, and every team deals with transfers, injuries and grades.
Get them tutored, have #2 ready, is part of the HC job, and lol at at those that think the 2 deep is handed to you on a silver platter every year.

Miles dealt with the same stuff every year and failed to make SEC top 5 rushing avg, or field a meh defense maybe twice in 12yrs.
Also I don't recall him belittling LSU talent and if anything, oversold fans/media the potential the players had.
GTFO with all the excuses.
