His speed and bunting ability make him a much better option batting than Hughes, and Hughes playing second right now make what you're giving up on defense fairly negligible. Hughes is just too much of a liability at the plate and doesn't have Broussard's speed to put pressure on the defense to make plays quickly. Broussard is also easily the best bunter on the team.
