Yep and if someone comes along after the whistle and aggressively removes him they usually get a 15 yard unnecessary roughness call.
Do they?

... and what happens to opponents who deliberately attempt to hurt LSU players in the pile, after the tackle?

That is for the referee to handle. He was not trying to hurt the guy he was trying to slow him down from getting up in a hurry up situation. This technique is taught to waste time and delay/ frustrate the offense.

The offensive player on the ground is taught to try harder to get up. Other players are taught to help him up but cautioned against doing it in a way that might draw a flag for unnecessary roughness. This activity was close to potentially being able to be flagged as opposed to grabbing his shoulder pads and while under control pulling him off the guy to his feet in a way that was obvious to not be aggressive.

Actually I did.
bullshite!

You think it's believable that you actually played, and would have allowed an opponent to try to injure one of your teammates in a pile after a play to have avoided a penalty?
Are you effing serious?

Let's set aside the fact the Ref shouting at the AU SOB after the play. Did your mates appreciate your "Corporal Timothy Upham" attitude on the field?

He was not trying to injure him.

They were in hurry up. He was trying to delay/ frustrate the offense to let more time run off the clock.

The offenses responsibility is to get lined up and run the next play because once the chains are reset the clock starts again.

Dude the offense was in hurry up.

He was trying to delay him from getting up and getting lined up to try to get a few more seconds off the clock before they can snap again.
