Marriott and Hyatt are the best. Hyatt gets rowdy in the bar area. Both have easy access to MARTA.

My favorite too. However, that will be GT's headquarters. LSU will be staying at the Hilton.

There will still be a ton of LSU fans there. Most of GT's fans are locals and will not be staying in a hotel. The Hilton is right across the street, but we got a better deal at the Marquis.

Omni is the closest and better bar than Westin.

We're staying at the Marriott Marquis. We got a really sweet deal on rooms and it's right across the street from the LSU team hotel. We tried the Omni but it was too expensive. Besides, we've had good luck at the Marquis. We watched Mizzou go down last year paving our way to the NC in the hotel bar packed with LSU fans. It was awesome!

Ok you do is go on priceline and select the name your own price option. Put in downtown Atlanta, the nights u want and the minimal number of stars you want for that price. You won't know the name of the hotel until after a bid is accepted. If it's too low they won't accept it. The same hotel is asking for 279 a night on it's website and for 169 a night I think on the priceline website.

Olympic Park area is nice. There's an Embassy Suites there with a Ruth's Chris attached. Omni CNN Center is also nearby. Best hidden gem is The Glenn Hotel on Marietta St...boutique hotel with a great bar on the roof (lots of eye candy). Anything close to that would be good. However, it will not necessarily be cheap, and nothing downtown is very safe at night. Don't venture off alone.

Best bar hands down is the roof top bar at The Glenn on Marietta. Nice hotel, decent price and 1 or 2 blocks away from the Omni CNN Center.

you can't go wrong with the Westin Downtown.

Great hotel, great location.

Dump. Still has a ton of its windows boarded up since the tornado in April.

We may have different ideas of what is safe, but IMO the whole area around downtown where there are venues and hotels is pretty safe. Atlanta hosts a ton of conventions throughout the year and depends on $$$$ from outside visitors to fuel the local economy. City officials realize this and try to give visitors a reason to come back.

Keep in mind downtown Atlanta is an urban environment and like any big city, you may encounter some vagrants and less desireables. Just be smart and travel in groups and you should be OK.

Also, if your last trip to Atlanta was prior to '98, the city really cleaned up its act when it hosted the Olympics then. You're in for a pleasant surprise.

If you do come up, try to take a trip up Marta to visit GT. I'm biased, but I think it's a nice campus.
