The OP raises some interesting points.
I don't believe in elaborate conspiracies, but there is evidence here that suggests the cops didn't stumble onto these arrests.
Regardless of the scepticism and frustration expressed here by simplistic poster, there's more to the incident than meets the eye.
Give it a few weeks

I don't really care what your point was. These idiots were breaking the law and now they get to pay the consequences. They are all former Tigers, so I'm sorry it casts some bad light on the school, but all I can wish for them is that they turn their lives around.
I can understand law is law but really smoking weed? Not that big a deal. I really think that they were set up by somebody.

JJ was the idiot. Who makes a scene at a gated complex when they're about to go smoke tons of pot in an appt?

I don't think it was a setup. Setups don't happen like that. If JJ doesn't make a scene and get confrontational with the maintenance man then none of this happens. If it was a setup, the cops would have been watching them and pull them over for not using a blinker or some shite and hope they have the weed on 'em.

Your novel was interesting. Timeline is probably inconsequential. Only thing that really matters is if TM7 was found in an apartment with weed and whether or not the search was good. Even if WBRZ was tipped off, or if the police had other information that led them to go to the apartment it all comes down to the search. If Mathieu consented, he's probably cooked. Also, had he not consented, they might have been able to secure a warrant and searched anyway. Or they could have claimed that they needed to enter the apartment to prevent the destruction of drugs. Bottom line is, the fact that he was found in an apartment, and the amount of marijuana, makes the bong/papers/other paraphernalia argument moot. Life is hard, it's harder when you're stupid.

So you don't believe they were involved in any questionable activity?

I usually have as much weed as they had in the house, I have a grinder, we have a digital scale(we bought it to weigh puppies) and we always have ziplock baggies. If cops busted into my house I am sure they could claim I sell weed even though that would be the furthest thing from the truth.

Regardless if this is true or not....
In the end, TM7, despite losing what was most valuable to him (a spot on the LSU Football team), he still couldn't help it to put himself in a situation that got him kicked off the team in the first place.
As a person, I hope TM7 gets over this stage of his life, and learns from this whole situation to be a better person later on in life.

His draft position is more valuable than his spot on LSUs team....

I thought how they clarified and focused on the fact that a grinder was pretty funny. Also that it was "high grade" marijuana. Would it have made a difference if it was low grade?

TM may be high as hell, but his draft position isn't going to be.
I doubt he was a first or second rounder before the arrest.

Wow. Nice try Matlock. I gave your post a try but when you started questioning "probable cause" for knocking on a door I gave up hope for you

I graduated LSU in 84 so pretty old I am sure compared to most on TD. It is funny how on this subject one or more of the Bama fans call TM trash, for smoking weed! I am an old man and weed is no big deal. Even the NFL pretty much ignores it now. It should be legal in my opinion. That would raise tons of revenue thru taxes and cut down on smuggling and dealing crime. And I am a big time republican saying all of this.

high grade
Can someone clarify if the report says the officer smelled "burnt marijuana" vs "marijuana"?

At this current point in life, what did he covet the most?
A spot on the LSU Football team. Why would he come back and enroll in the school as a regular student with the hopes of being let back on the team, when he could've gone to another school to play?
Logically speaking, if you covet a higher draft position, you'd have a higher draft position if you were playing as opposed to if you weren't playing.
