BAMA is a good team. They are a very good team, but some people are really over-reacting to their game tonight.

1st off, look at Bama's resume so far:

1) Beat an extremely overrated Clemson team that lost to a middle of the pack and one dimensional Maryland team today.

2) Beat some scrub

3) Struggled against TULANE. I know they are better, but that was ridiculous. Their offense struggled against that defense, so I am not that scared.

4) Beat a HORRIBLE Arky team, whom lost just as bad to UT today, and UT took it easy on them.

5) Beat an overrated UGA team. UGA is a really good team, but their biggest weaknesses played into Bama's hands. Their OL is very suspect especially without their top LT, and their DL is not so great, especially depth-wise with their top DT gone. Reality is Bama has a very good OL and very good DL. LSU, however, matches up well against them.

LSU and BAMA will both be solid teams this year, and it will be a tough game, but please don't over-react to Bama playing up to an opponent, because they will play down to one too. Typical Saban coached team.

When was the last time in the SEC that the underdog team went on the road and was up on a Top 5 team 31-0 or better at halftime? That was a DOMINATING performance against a great UGA team. Saban and the Tide are back, and it's high time that we face it.

I saw nothing from our OL or DL tonight that made me think we match up well with them.

However, last week, I saw a lot from both that made me think we match up well with them.

The week we play them, there's no telling what we will see.

I agree it was nothing short of dominating. I was impressed with their offense. Sabins defenses are almost always on. I do think UGA is a little weaker than hyped, and yes Clemson was also extremely overrated. Bama is proving to be the team to beat in the SEC though with FLA and UGA being exposed. I'm happy about LSU chances though especially being at home this year with the first return of nick. If our front four can continue to create pressure without the blitz we'll be fine.

i think he only has 9 seniors. i hate bama, but this has to be similar for the, as it was when Saban beat Georgia in 03.

Obviously our team didn't play that well today along the lines. This is true, but reality is Bama's 2 big victories against "Great" opponents came against 2 teams with a common thread. Weak OLs. UGA's was not that good before Sturdivant went out and is now much worse without him.

Clemson replaced nearly their entire line. This is a big mistake that people make when ranking and rating these teams. They put too much stock in skill players and not enough in the lines.

LSU has a large, strong set of OL and DL to match up. Now whether they show up or not is another story.

geaux bob, your post was dead on balls accurate. uga was overrated, we have some glaring weaknesses that played right into bama's hands. but i havent felt our team this humbled since the seccg in 2003. bama has no weaknesses. they are athletic, tough, disciplined and play with a chip on their shoulder. JPW has really matured giving their O a genuine dual threat. lots of fb to be played but for my money they're the best team in the country right now.

Are we too assume then that Bama is not a "second half team" since their 31 point halftime that you addressed in your comment evaporated to an 11 point win...????

This praise of Bama will begin to slow when finally, and it will happen, on their first offensive possession THEY ARE SHUT DOWN, 3 and out, and then on their opponents first offensive possession the opponents take the ball down field on a long systematic drive down Bama's throat and score.

No one has punched Alabama in the face right out of the gate in any game offensively or defensively yet. When this happens, we will see what Bama really has under the hood.

Don't get me wrong, the win over Georgia is a great win for them as any away game win is in the SEC. The "big win" over Clemson has begun to lose some of its luster after their latest debacle against "powerful" Maryland.

The still got some things to prove in my opinion.

Miledawg, while I agree that Bama is solid all-around, they've taken a lot of teams by surprise. Their OL is strong, and if you notice, they haven't trailed yet this season. At some point that will happen and their response to adversity will be tough. In both games against Clemson and UGA, BAMA drove it down the opponent's throats and smacked them in the mouth.

Mistakes doomed UGA and all the bounces (outside of the onside kick) went Bama's way. Look at the first drive. BAMA drove down the field, but once in the redzone, UGA held and actually got the forced fumble and recovery only to have the Roughing the passer call eliminate it. That alone deflated the UGA defense, and the team as a whole.

UGA is not a team with a real leader. When they get down early, they don't have a true leader to carry them through like LSU did when getting down at Auburn.

geaux, you are right that bama has yet to trail, and that will test them. and also that uga's mistakes paved the road for them. BUT i knew after the first few plays of that 1st drive, BEFORE we imploded that we were in over our heads. JPW is like a different player, i think his coolheadedness and experience will carry them over any future rough patches.

You guys got little to no pressure on him. JPW is a solid qb when he doesn't get pressured, but when you pressure him, he cracks like a nut in a nutcracker.

UGA doesn't play smart, they simply try to out-athlete the other teams and it showed and lack of leadership on defense killed them.

Thanks Miledawg, i try to keep up with SEC teams and LSU opponents. I noticed the things I've talked about here last season with UGA, which really is why I am so surprised by Moreno's stats last year. The OL for UGA wasn't really that good and the kid was still tearing it up. Also, UGA really didn't beat anyone of consequence in their winning streak last year that everyone went GAGA over.

They improved, but I think Moreno's breaking out is literally what gave all the hype, and then UGA's thumping of a really horrible Hawaii team simply pushed the hype beyond normal. They are a solid team, but being weak at the lines will always kill you in the end.
