It's just Dale Brown all over again. Dale could recruit but he couldn't coach. Same wit CJJ.
Dale Brown is in the Hall of Fame. Are you people this dumb?

Dale pulled Tex out of retirement in 1983 and Chicago hired him in 1985. I believe Abernathy was Dale's top asst. the early 80's and after he left and before Dale hired Tex, Dale was again average at best. He could recruit but could not coach. Bobby Knight even insulted Dales coaching when he said after the final four game in 1981? in which we were winning convincingly at half that he knew he had a chance because he saw LSU's coach, our own Daddy Dale. I watched a many a game from 1979-83.

Sofa,
I honestly believe that they just think they're better than most teams. They force because they're over confident. A&Ms defense had something to say about that.
Bridge is the only player that showed patience and let the game come to him.

As I said...you were wrong. Knight made his stupid comment after the 87 elite 8 game. The reason its stupid is that LSU was a 10 seed and Indiana was a 1. Knight's program probably had 10 times the resources of LSU's program. Dale is a HOFer and it has nothing to do with Tex.

I may have been wrong about when Bobby Knight said he wasn't worried because he was coaching against Dale, they beat us in 81 and 87 but not wrong about Dale pulling Tex out of retirement. That was actually one of Dales best hires. Dale had enough talent to win at least one or two championships, just couldn't beat the top coaches. Dale was Bobby's bitch.

Dale had Tex Winters as his top assistant when he made his best runs in the NCAA tourneys, Tex was Phil Jackson's assistant I believe when they won 4-5 championships in Chicago. Without him Dale was ordinary at best.
This is what you said...Tex was never a part of any of Dale's runs because he only coached here for 1 year. You said without Tex Dale was ordinary.... Tex did not make Dale Brown in any way shape or form. It's ok to be wrong sometimes.
As for Knight, he was one of the greatest basketball minds in the history of the game. He made that statement because Dale was rightfully bitching after the game about Knight bullying the refs. Dale was absolutely right and Knight should have been ejected in the 1st half for slamming the phone after he had already received one technical foul.
That's ok though, keep shitting on the only LSU basketball coach that ever sustained success at this football school. You should be hoping JJ has the career of HOFer Dale Brown.

He also wasted plenty of talent. See O'Neal, Shaquille era, especially the first year.

We all marvel at the "wasted talent" from that one season that Dale had CJ, Shaq, and Roberts.
Anyone want to guess who beat us in the 2nd round of the tournament that year? It was Georgia Tech. Anyone know what GT had on their team? 3 NBA players who had better NBA careers as a whole than the LSU trio. None of them had a better career than Shaq, but Kenny Anderson, Brian Scott, and Brian Oliver were better pros than CJ and Roberts.
What about 1981? What about 1986? What about 1987? What about making the NCAA tournament most years from 1977-1994?
Dale may not have had much success against Bobby Knight, but he sure would have against this current crop of SEC coaches.
