That's one way to see it. Of course, it may be that the team sitting around for 43 days is going to be the rustier of the two teams. I think the SECCG keeps the SEC champ fresher - more game experience in a big, championship game. Perhaps the SECCG is a reason why the SEC champ has won the last 5 or so championship games. But that's not what the thread was about. The thread is just a humorous thought.
Hopefully there's no injuries. Even though Bama is the second best team, they lost at home and don't deserve a rematch when other teams that haven't had the chance.

Bottom line, I'm not worried - Les always has the guys ready for the bowl games, first game of season, game after bye week, etc.....
Les does seem to do a better job with off time than Saban. Saban teams do well when defending what they've seen but that stunting defense can backfire when a team takes what you expect with a specific formation and then does something opposite. And when Saban has been fancy in a bowl game (such as the fake punt vs. Texas) the result has been bad at times. Saban teams have great defense, decent (if boring) offenses, but their special teams are not as good as some previous coaches. No idea why that has not been fixed.

Look at it like this. If bama is put in the bcs NCG without winning a conference championship then all of this conference expansion going on around the country is pointless and every single conference championship game this year is pointless.
Exactly! Its the "Bowl Championship Series" The only thing Bama is champion of is media hype.

Even better, IF LSU plays Bama in the NC game and beats Bama then if Bama has even an ounce of shame, it should refuse to play LSU the next year as we would have already beaten them twice.
You know what a Powerhouse the LSU team is going to be next year anyways so it should help them save face.

That's one way to look at it, I guess - but as a fan, if LSU were not in contention for the BCSNCG, but still going to the SEC championship, I'd still be pretty stoked... I like the championship games, and frankly I like the Bowl system (I'm in favor of the +1 model in some form or another).

Problem is, all the other teams deserve a place in the NC game even less. Face it, the ultimate solution is a playoff. And in a playoff, sometimes an undefeated team has to play a team they beat in the regular season. The BCS is a 1 game playoff. But even a longer playoff could result in the same scenario.

One thing Bama fans should be worried about with lil Nicky is that his teams come out flat after an extended break. It was that way at LSU so much, that we learned to hate bye weeks.
So I'm not looking at Bama getting a break as being necessarily a bad thing as much as I would look at it as a chance to get a little fat over the holidays, lazy, and lose all the wind in the sails come Jan 1st.
Miles' LSU teams have looked the exact opposite after a break. I have to imagine that this is because of a specific reason and not just imagination and/or coincidence.

. In this case, its like we had playoffs and Bama and LSU won their separate playoff trees. If there were playoffs, Bama would be top seed in the 2nd tree and the final game would end up with the same two opponents
This is where your argument breaks down.
PLAYOFFS! YOU WANNA TALK ABOUT PLAYOFFS!!
In a playoff system the number one seed doesn't play ten top 25 teams three of those being top 5 and do it mostly on the road while the number two seed only plays three top 25 teams and gets a bye to the superbowl.

That is surprising.

I think the players may take on his personality - perfectionists/ rigid. There have been plenty of other threads comparing and contrasting Miles' versus Saban's styles; suffice it to say I think Miles' style is more suited for big game preparation.

So the reward for winning the biggest game in college football in the past 40 years is having to play a meaningless game before the NCG while the loser of that biggest game basically gets a first round bye.
Now, where's that website?

frick it. After we win sec let's go beat OU/OKST winner, then beat Bama again.

Even though I don't think bama deserves a rematch I will say that if the shoe was on the other foot and LSU would have lost the game to bama I would be stoked as hell to get a rematch and in no way would I want my team to turn down the opportunity.

Bama if invited should man up and decline the BCSNC game invite unless the LSU/Bama series is made 2 out of 3.
Yeah...next game at Death Valley. If Bama beats us there then the 3rd game at the neutral site Superdome.

Which is pointless as we have a month off anyway.....
If anything it is a asset. We have seen numerous cases of rust on teams sitting for so long.
Bama can't practice anymore, and won't be able to for weeks.
We get another 7 days.

But if a few key players get injured then it becomes very meaningful

I think lsu should be declared the winner and bama should have to play uga.

It would be interesting, Wow , itmight even change some of the BCS rules. Very interesting, the backlash would be overwhelming but would definitely put the SEC with 3 teams in the BCS and is sure better than a mediocre team from teh Big East getting into a BcS Bowl . Just ridiculous this year.

"Why is Virginia Tech playing Clemson for the ACC championship? Clemson already beat Virgina Tech in the regular season. I don't like rematches either but they are part of sports. We would see them more often if we had a playoff. In this case, its like we had playoffs and Bama and LSU won their separate playoff trees. If there were playoffs, Bama would be top seed in the 2nd tree and the final game would end up with the same two opponents unless one or both were upset. What sport would cancel the final game based on regular season outcome?"
In a playoff, Bama would have to beat one or more ranked teams to get the chance of losing to LSU in the championship game, not a bye for sitting on your arse.

In a play off situation situation if there were a rematch Bama would have earned the rematch! As it is sitting at home this week and watching LSU slug it out with UGA, Bama earns nothing!
