OSU is #1 in Pass Defense averaging giving up 126.6 ypg on 229 pass attempts. They’ve played 3 ranked teams. Indiana (33 attempts), Cincinnati (20 attempts), and Wisconsin (17 attempts). Overall, 119 completions on 229 attempts for a 51.9% completion rate against.

We’re giving up 239.8 ypg on 318 attempts. We’ve played 4 ranked teams. Texas (47 attempts), Florida (43 attempts), Auburn (35 attempts) and Bama (40 attempts). 171 completions on 318 attempts for a 53.7% completion rate.

Not a huge difference.

Do you think they’d only be giving up 126 ypg passing against our schedule?

Do they think they have better defense backs than we do?

LSU gave up 409 passing yards to Texas. The 409 passing yards Texas put up against LSU was THE MOST passing yards Texas has had all season. And remember, Texas also played La Tech, Rice and Kansas this year.

LSU gave up 311 passing yards against Florida. Mighty Towson didn't even allow Florida to pass for 300 yards.

LSU gave up 418 passing yards against Bama.

Hell, LSU gave up 38 points to Vandy which was the most points Vandy has scored on ANY opponent this season. And just for the sake of comparison, Vandy only scored 24 points against Purdue.

No disrespect but LSU has a good offense, but they don't scare me at all. Seems like every average to good offense they play takes their defense to the woodshed.

Bear in mind those teams HAD to pass to keep up with our offense.

Our defense is good. They do enough each and every game to give us a chance to win. Our defense in the first half against Texas and Bama was extremely good. That’s all we needed from then to give us a chance to win

Tons of garbage time in those games. And the point about Vandy is moot.

Texas IMO is the only game where our secondary got truly exposed.

There were lapses in coverage and bad play calling against Bama that allowed them to keep the game close.. But other than that, we've held our own.

one difference I have noticed is that Ohio State does not miss as many tackles as does the Tigers. The do swarm the ball better than LSU IMO, though The Tigers are getting better at that lately.

Well-reasoned, rational post. Can't knock it. I wonder what it's like to post on a forum like that.

It’s pretty obvious that LSU has to out score ranked teams. Offense can’t have a subpar game with this defense.

Explain that most teams are going to pass the ball when they are trailing, thus the higher pass yards against vs rush yards against. You seen it with the Saints, now seeing it with LSU. Defense usually good against the rush but gives up a lot of pass yards due to offense being ahead.

Truth.

Completion % against OSU is 51.9% on 229 attempts.

LSU is at 53.7% on 318 attempts.

Well, obviously we should take our win over Alabama and just go home.

the problem that people don't see when they don't watch the games is that fla held all night, particularly on pivotal plays. both fla and auburn benefited from missed PI calls on crucial plays. the question is if you think your team will get that benefit.

bama caught lsu looking at the sideline on a long td pass. do you think your team will get away with that?

despite all that, every team lsu has played lost. even WITH flukes.

also, lsu's d is not nearly as bad as people are making it out to be if you look at the national stats. again, lsu has 2 db's who can absolutely hang with any wr crew in the country. no team has a defensive backfield that can hang with jj, chase, marshall, moss, sullivan, mcmath, ceh, etc. well, no one in cfb that is.

If we win, I really don't care what the stats say. I honestly don't feel like there's a defense out there that can stop us.
