Hey dude.... Go screw yourself homer.,I doubt you ever saw Walker play. Btw how am I being negative??????
Before anyone gets pissed about that, it is NOT intended as a slight. Watching Walker was an absurdity. The fact LF is even DISCUSSED in the same sentence is a huge compliment. LF is the real deal.
One thing I hope is that LF has a better fate.
The two best SEC RBs of my lifetime were Jackson and Walker. And both met unfortunate NFL fates. Some younger fans may think that looking at NFL stats, those weren't as great as talked about.
That would be wrong. They were athletic absurdities. Both were legit NCAA sprinters and big.
Walker got supremely fricked by the dumbest NFL trade short of the Ricky Williams trade. Jackson had a freak injury.
LF is in their class. I hope he plays in a better place.

All of the measurables of Herschel and LF are similar. Saying that he is better based on your recollections and opinions of yore just doesn't make sense. We can all go back and watch old games and watch them run.
Many of us have seen those games dozens of times over. The fact of the matter is you can put the films alongside each other (as has been done) and there is little or no objective difference in athletic ability.
The point that I and others are trying to make here is that LF has been as good if not better versus better opponents/athletes. And there really isn't any debate about that.

And better IS an opinion. By definition is an opinion. There are no stats ways to "prove" it.
You guys take shite as an insult when it isn't. Besides, I didn't say there's some wide gulf. I think it's VERY close.

Two things. One, when putting them next to each other, there are no "facts". It's an opinion.
Second, you are correct. The difference, if any, is small.
You realize one can hold the OPINION that one of these guys is better than the other and not think the difference is substantial, right?

I agree. His stats and performance have been very comparable.
You guys are seeing conflict where one doesn't exist. One can think that Walker was the better back without saying any of what you said is wrong.
You can't trot out stats as a sole refutation.
If that's how it worked, then we'd have to all agree that Dan Marino was a better QB than Joe Montana.

No one is taking anything as an insult.

For difinitive proof, no there is no single stat. But, there are stats (like YPC) which can provide evidence to support an opinion rather than relying on recollection of player performance from 30 years ago as the basis of your opinion.
And I was referencing another poster in my comment about the "substantial" difference between the two.

Tons of variables go into YPC. If, for some odd reason, LF has committed to Vanderbilt, his YPC would almost certainly be lower. This does not mean that LF would be less talented has he signed with Vanderbilt.
When determining "better", that actually IS pretty much a measure of opinions, 30 years old or not.
I'm not one of these "in my day guys were better" dudes.
I love LF. I think he is right there in the argument.
I will say this though. The attachment to stats is why Walker is always brought up in front of Jackson to which I say, F that. Jackson was a freak if nature!

I saw Walker play too. He was the best IMO but the players weren't as big when he played. LF7 is getting close to being as good as Walker.

He played 2 less games than Derrick Henry
3 less, Henry had 25% more games and 33% more carries for only 14% more yards
15 for Henry, (12 + SECCG, + 2 rd CFP)
12 for Fournette ( 12 - Mcneese, + bowl)
