FWIW I met his uncle in New Orleans at a parade. I asked about his ankle and how his speed is going. He told me its been fine and 4.4. I'm not putting any weight into that, just thought I'd share

He may drop 10 lbs before he runs and then run 4.4 and they can say he did it at 240. Or if he runs slower than expected he can say he was 240 due to slow healing ankle. Wins either way.

I'm trying to say that him weighing in at 240 pounds on March 1st does not mean he's overweight and is not the end of the world.

It's not really that difficult of a concept, to be honest.

It must be since I pretty much said the same thing.

But, unlike some, I don't have to pretend that 240 is optimal for Fournette for me to have that opinion.

LF played at 235 last year. Your statement that 240 isnt a good sign is an assumption.

It's an opinion.

* 240 isn't his optimal weight, IMO
* This was an important day for him
* That he showed up at 240 anyway shows that:
o ...the ankle may be a bigger issue than we think. Remember some were talking surgery
o...the ankle is fine, but it required a ton of rest and that has kept him from working out
o...he's being a tad bit lazy between the end of his LSU career and his NFL career
o ...he's in great shape and the extra weight is just muscle. He's exactly the weight he wants to be.

#1 is the worst case scenario. #2 is the most likely...followed by #3. Neither are major concerns. #4 is highly unlikely, IMO.

or 240 could be water weight. Way back when, when I was young enough to play sports, my weight would fluctuate 5-10 pounds depending on the day, what workout I did that day, how much I ate/drank that day, etc. Derrick Henry was listed at 242 and weighed in at 247, a 5 pound weight gain. Was he out of shape for the combine? Are their listed weights in a media guide supposed to be taken at face value?

Also, are you under the assumption that i didnt know the difference between getting personal and taking it personal?

Yes. That was apparent.

No you didn't.

Or, he shed the easy weight for the weigh-in and he's really walking around at 245-250.

Weighing in at 240 isn't a good sign. He is not in optimal shape.

That's not remotely the same as what I'm saying.

Fournette hit speeds of 23 MPH on the field this year after his ankle injury, which is the fastest an LSU player moved on the field this season, including Donte Jackson.

Your post oozes with butthurt. All because I said he wasn't in optimal shape.

Link?

I said that his optimal weight was around 230 IMO. Then I posted a quote that showed Miles and last year's staff thought it was between 225-230...and that he was heavier than that last spring.

Against Ole Miss he reached a speed that no nfl player reached this year. He was 235 lbs and on an ankle that wasnt 100%.

He's a freak of nature.

I hope he blows everyone's collective mind at the combine. 30 reps, 4.4, 35 vert, and huge broad.

Would be glorious.

I said...

quote:

Let me put it this way. If he were playing at LSU this year, I wouldn't want him at 240. Having said that, if he were playing at LSU this year, I wouldn't be overly concerned about him being a little heavy in early March.

I dont care what you think my post looks like. I said your post was ignorant because you have no clue what LF'S optimal weight is. Im sorry youre heart is so tender that you thought,"Holy shite" meant it took something personal.

He was the best and fastest player on the field at 235. No one cares about your opinion of LF's optimal weight. You said 240 isnt a good sign. Im saying you have no clue if it's a good sign.

And then backtracked when you found out he played at 235 at lsu.
