Jay alluded to this in the post game press conference. You need a core base of veterans and then need a new, rising base of freshmen. With the portal it might not happen every year. You have to keep the pipeline flowing and hopefully keep some vets around. What a life for a Baseball coach.
I think the big thing is finding pitching that translates to college ball.
LSU has had a ton of "High School Studs" that once they come on campus and have to grind out against the best in the country they end up being pretty mediocre.
Luckily Jay has done well using the portal to go and grab arms that contribute...
Eyanson, Skenes, Holman, Jump, Ackenhousen....
If he can consistently get a good starter from high school and get a second starter from the portal... this program will continue to be good for as long as he is here.

Yeah, I meant that about Jay. He's a top 5 coach in the sport, and also only 48 years old.

That is probably like 5 people. And they are absolute morons.

I agree with what you are saying. Schmidt is a guy that rarely makes it to campus. The dude was a first round pick and has not lived up to the billing. He will be better next year and provide the ballast the staff needs along with Williams and Evans.

I would LOVE to hear Coach O speaking in depth about pitching rotations and other nuanced things of baseball
Or make him an honorary pitching coach for a game and see if the catcher can understand what calls he’s making

But he's not LSU's coach, we have one and he's elite. People who cant get over us not hiring Vitello need to move on.
Its a dumb reason to keep attacking Jay who has accomplished more.
Vitello is a douche too. If he was LSU's coach I would definitely support him but in the back of my mind I would still think he's a douche...
I liked Les Miles when he was coach but I also knew he was cringe during a lot of interviews.
I am happy with Jay

He's an elite recruiter. He might be the best in the country
He said in his postgame he missed a wedding because Evans called and wanted to come back to town to talk. He committed on that visit.
