I lived in North Stadium 3rd floor Fall83-Spring84. I think my room was 330 or in that range. From the outside looking up, my room was to the left of the Football Ops Office. I remember yelling down at an impromptu interview on the ground by one of the local stations after Jerry Stovall got fired. "We love you, Jerry!"
NO AC, but it seems there was always shade on the north side of the stadium. Must have been some big trees on that end at the time. Had my own phone in the room (still remember the number) and cable. Only took me 5 minutes to get to class/quad.
Most memorable is that I lived about 100-120 yards from a live Siberian Bengal Tiger. Mike IV wasn't a "show kitty" like Mike VI who would interact with visitors like you've seen in some videos. Mike IV would sleep all day and then roar at night. Since my window was always open, it was so loud it would make the hairs on the back of my neck stand up. I remember just lying there waiting for the next roar.
It's pretty cool to tell people I actually lived in Tiger Stadium. Wouldn't have had it any other way. . .

Exactly! I wouldn’t want to live in stadium dorms again, but I’m glad I did it!
Probably the sentiment of most of us who did.
The stadium dorms were like the cheapest dorms on campus so it was where most of us poors lived. Since many of us grew up without AC, not having AC was no bid deal. It was just life.
Likely the most important factor was having a good roommate. I did.
South Stadium was the newest part of the stadium and the rooms were slightly more spacious than the other dorms in the stadium. The rooms, halls, etc in the other parts were more cramped.
Someone with more artistic skill than I should make a T-shirt for us.

I lived in Hatcher but buddy was in Stadium. Used to shoot bottle rockets down hallways and under doors. We’d probably be expelled now days.

We lived in the stadium during the same period, although I was in West for freshman year (‘83-‘84), and then upgraded (LOL!) to South for another year and a half before my roommate insisted we move out to an apartment…crazy as it seems now, I was actually resisting moving out of what many would consider by today’s standards prison cell like conditions!
But that’s what we knew, and like you, I love to tell people that I lived in Tiger Stadium!

Yep, whenever I take someone not from here on a campus tour that always seems to be the most interesting thing to them, next to Mike the Tiger of course. And the times and the memories I had there I certainly would not change. Met one of my better friends there as well.
