UT Austin sits firmly in the top tier of US public universities. It usually gets grouped with places like Michigan, UCLA, Berkeley and Wisconsin because of its size, research output and breadth of strong programs. Globally it tends to land somewhere in the top one hundred.

Engineering is one of the biggest standouts. The Cockrell School usually falls in the top ten to fifteen nationwide and some specialties like petroleum engineering are basically perennial number one. It holds its own against the likes of Georgia Tech and Michigan.

Computer science is another heavy hitter. UT CS tends to show up in the top ten to fifteen and often ranks near programs like Cornell, Columbia and UCLA. The true giants in the field are MIT, Stanford and Carnegie Mellon, but UT belongs in the next band of elite programs.

McCombs, the business school, is typically in the top twenty for undergrad business and around top fifteen to twenty five for MBA programs. Accounting in particular is one of those categories where UT is consistently near the top. Against other public schools, McCombs is in the same league as Michigan Ross and UVA Darden.

Texas Law usually lands in the top fifteen to twenty. Among public law schools only Michigan, Virginia and Berkeley tend to outrank it on a regular basis. It’s a strong pipeline into Texas courts, politics and major firms.

Arts and sciences are solid across the board. Most departments land somewhere in the top twenty to thirty nationally. The Jackson School of Geosciences stands out and regularly shows up in the top five. Natural sciences like chemistry and physics sit in the upper tier of public universities.

Overall pattern is pretty clear. UT Austin is a top tier public university with elite strengths in engineering, CS, business, law and geosciences, plus a massive athletic footprint. Even if someone doesn’t care about rankings, its consistency across so many fields is what makes it impressive.

God this sounds like Clemson and their “last 8 out of 10” bullshite when we mention we have won the last 2 out of 3.

My favorite stat - Texas # 1 ranked public university in Texas. Aggies #2. If you ain’t first you’re last.
Their loser, little bro mentality will never change :)
