did Russell make any mistakes in the Alabama game? Probably one of the few game manager moments in the last 8 years

he finished with 229 yards, 1 touchdown and 0 interceptions and made some of the best throws i've ever seen.

We only ran for 1.4 ypc that game, but you're right...the great talent led us to victory

That was LSU's 1st victory over a top 5 team on the road since the 50's. JR did it twice in his career

Oh, and he led a record-setting offense!

Can I get a BOOM?

You mean like the time we had 5 starters out in the SECCG.

And like Fisher's crappy play calling.

Russell didn't have Hester to hand the ball off to

it is awesome how you discredit one of the better wins in LSU history though

We played our 2nd string thug QB in '07. Some conservative play-calling there too.

you're right, we won the SEC championship even without Flynn.

serious question, do you think that Russell played a damn good game against Bama?

So what you are saying is that Flynn wasn't important since RP simply stepped in and won the NC.

Thanks for agreeing with me.

2nd half yes! Everybody has there moments. I still think he was throwing tho Bowe, but was soooo far off Doucet made a great catch to save his butt. The crowd we watched it with thought the same thing.

you do realize that doucet caught the ball right in front of bowe. Bowe had dropped about 5 balls that day

and anyway, you are thinking of the Tennessee game, not the Bama game. Bowe caught the game winning ball vs. bama

Oh, he was or the game would have been a blow-out. Flynn led a record-setting offense that had a porous defense.

We played the great UT and their offense in the SECCG. We only had to score a coupe of times to win. RP, do not screw up because UT's offense is soooooo bad even we can stop them.

Oh, and RP didn't win the NC game. Flynn did!!!!!! Unlike Russell who couldn't win any CG of any kind.

Game. Set. match. Flynn!

you are getting UT 2006 confused with Bama 2005

UT 2006 was the game JR played with a concussion. The game where Flynn came in and LSU went backwards

So its Russell's fault he lead his team to the same record as Flynn did but didn't get a chance to play for the SECCG in 06?

Bama wasn't a top 5 team in '93? Defending National Champions on a 31 game unbeaten streak?

Flynn and Hester (for now).

Russell= over-rated.

Surrounded by great talent and what did he accomplish as the leader of the team?

The game at AU when he scrambled in bounds, then throws short of the end-zone defined his stupidity. He was stupid, but his talent around him bailed him out more times than not.

The Bama game- who was he throwing to, Doucet or Bowe? I doubt he was throwing to Doucet, but it worked out anyway.

wow...

Which QB and which RB was/is better at LSU?

Flynn was the better QB FOR LSU. I will do a statistical analysis on the RB question later.
quote:

Give at least one reason as to why you picked who you picked.

Stats - 2006 vs. 2007
2006 - losses with 3 & 10 points offensively
2007 - losses with 37 & 48 points offensively
2006 - avg final ranking of BCS ranked opponents (10th), out of 5 ranked teams
2007 - avg final ranking of BCS ranked opponents (10th), out of 6 ranked teams
2006 - points scored 438 (points given up 164)
2007 - points scored 541 (points given up 279)
2006 - .569 opp win %, .491 OOC opp win %
2007 - .578 opp win %, . 563 OOC opp win %
2006 - 4, first round NFL picks
2007 - 1, first round NFL picks

In summary, the 2006 offense had better talent, had better defense support, and played against weaker teams, yet the 2007 offense was more productive. If the 2007 team had the 2006 defense, they would have without question gone undefeated. Therefore, the 2007 QB was a "better" QB for the team.
