I am thinking that this thing may go west of New Orleans, say lafayette if it followed it current path (which it wont). Either way, flying out of Louisiana may be interesting.

Bayou boy, how do you like Charleston? I will be there a couple nights before the USC game this year.

Best western King Charles Inn on Meeting is probably the lowest priced dowtown motel. It is very convenient. Others are hit and miss on the price, somtimes reasonable other times pricey. If you are looking try to stay close to market and meeting.
Listen to bayouboy on the bar scene, I wont be a good source on that but I will ask some other people.
Places to eat downtown: Blossom, Girabaldis, Basil, these are all a little pricey but good food. There is big sandwich shop dowtown called Hymans...its a trap.
Also, I dont particulary think the seafood is all that great unless you are eating in a top shelf restaurant, so I stay away from the Bubba gumps, crab shack, etc..
Oh yea, Fleet landing is another nice restaraunt with a good view and there is a small one near the aquarium on the water that I like.

Reds Icehouse across the bridge in Mt. Pleasant is another good restaurant/bar, it's always crowded and it's outside on the deck.

If you make out to Sullivans Island, there is a pub...I think it is Dunleaveys (sp?)...I liked it.
