Listen to this. At the 1:56 mark, somebody is pointing out the flag on the field as soon as the play ends.

In the small pic, you can see the flag before the play is over. In the large pic, you can verify that it is actually a flag rather than... dirt or something.

There were three flags on the ground in the end zone. I was about 10 yards from the one closest to the student section.

Yes, this was the back judge I believe. Saw him toss it and it was on the ground before the play was over.

The video doesn't show the flags being thrown because the cameras pan away from the refs in the endzone when the ball was snapped.

However, I was at the game and, though I didn't see the flags being thrown, I did see the flag in the endzone on the west side and told the fans around me that there was a penalty and that it was most likely on the D.
