1990s LSU baseball (led by their head coach) "inspired the other team." Hmm didn't seem to change things. I wonder why?

LSU did not act this way in the 1990s. You think Skip Bertman telling a few jokes about Starkville is the same as a pitcher giving the DX suck it after a strike out is laughable. Skip and Ron Polk were/are great friends. There was no ill Will involved. It was friendly banter.

Did LSU in the 1990s walk the fine line from confidant and cocky, sure. Was it crossed at times, perhaps. But was there a nonstop display of douchbaggery every weekend, no. I’ve said this before, Skip instructed his teams to NOT act in such a manner. “That’s how they act at a place like Vanderbilt.” (They weren’t any good at the time)

So you think he’s telling his players to be jerks? Do I have that correct?

Pretty presumptive considering I’ve never addressed you before.

And it’s “ you’re” by the way.

You get what you allow.

Other than arguing with umps, we have strong Tennessee vibes going right now

you know what i said and if you think this is what i said then your a stupid mfer. I said "CJJ allows it". So go ahead and again make up whatever you again to translate that into something else. Oh and please stop changing back and forth. .

As I stated in the last page, I would venture to say that CJJ talked to Jones about it afterwards.

Some of y’all are acting like the players go out there and tell the opposing team to screw themselves after every inning.

They might be a little cocky ( crossing their arms at home plate after a HR) but that’s hardly the worst thing in the world.

They’re allowed to celebrate. That’s part of playing sports.

This whole *clutches pearls* “not in my beloved baseball” mentality is what is in fact killing baseball.

This is so off base it’s pathetic. Until we start flipping people off while rounding the bases, maybe quit the Tennessee comparisons.

I can’t even tell from that video what the pitcher did. I do see an ump peacocking around afterwards though.

Unless there is more to the story, this is clearly an overreaction.

No I don’t know what you said. That’s why I asked. And I don’t understand why you’re being so defensive about my question.

I’m not changing any “back and forth.” Not sure what you meant by that but in any case I was simply asking you a question.

Judging by your response, I think you agree that he’s not telling his players to be jerks.

They get caught up in the moment and sometimes their emotions get the best of them.

You’re acting like they go over to the opposing dugout and start fist fights.

They’re allowed to celebrate. He allows them to have fun, like I said earlier. And I would assume that Johnson spoke to Jones about it afterwards.

If you want to think he “allows” them to react to the gravity of the game, knock yourself out. That’s human nature to be like that in the heat of the moment.

If you know Skip then you would know your arse was going to the bench for some cry baby shite like these guys do today.

You don't know skip nor do you know players who played for him in the 90s. I do. They like what they see under the Johnson regime much more than they did under the Manieri regime.

Exactly my take on it.

And I can’t stand Florida and ordinarily I’d be like,”good” but unless there’s more to this, and based on the video there isn’t, the ump is overreacting. He threw him out really fast so I’m not sure if that kid even said anything egregious.

Beau Jordan did it a few years ago and I had the same stance then as I do now. Really bad look. Paul Mainieri suspended him for the next game for it. Good on Paul.

But this team ISNT DOING THAT!!!! They’re just dancing after a big play and occasionally talking shite. Which every modern team does. Sorry if that upsets you grandpa but that’s how it goes nowadays.

The Florida kid celebrated in a pretty low key way. To even call it a "flex" like some people did is a little disingenuous. And, he was pointed toward his own dugout, yelling toward his own dugout.

Absolute overreaction by the umps.

Yeah, those morons from the 80s,90s, and early 2000s didn’t even have fun playing baseball. It’s impossible to have fun without taunting the other team.

Which is why umpires have to now police it to prevent brawls from happening.

Yet there were WAYYYYYYY more bench clearing fights back then than there is now. And kids are different now. And let’s be honest, they talked shite back then, just didn’t have as much exposure as they do now.
