I still can't believe they missed that.

worst call in an SEC game in years
As far as change the game, yes.
But watching last night's replay of LSU vs Bama, I had forgotten about the play where Bama is substituting players on defense and the ref just stood over the ball while LSU offense is looking at him like "okkkkkk, wtf?" and then he left blowing the whistle with about 4 seconds left on the play clock. LSU was given delay of game.
It seems like some of the worst calls I've ever seen in an LSU game come from either of the two teams located in Alabama.

What I see is another potential MNC being taken away because of a game played in the state of Alabama in 2011.
Simple as that.
I still say the call that pisses me off the most in that game, other than the obvious first down we got on the first series, was when Jefferson was speared right in front of Rittner, and he didn't call a damn thing.
Rewind to 2007 when we played at Bama (same officiating crew) and Rittner called a momentum changing BS call on Tyson Jackson after we stopped them again and were set for great field position with a 14-3 lead. Same officiating crew in 2007 called nearly 200 yards in penalties on us, along with 9 by HT. Most people forget bc we won that game.
Cheaters gonna cheat. Good teams have to beat the state of Alabama and the refs as well.

Why did you have to bring this up again?
We probably wouldn't have won anyway because the offense was complete dogshit after Ridley scored that TD. But you never know what could have happened.

I remember that call, and it pissed me off. It was a total BS roughing the passer call on Jackson. Makes you wonder what the frick these refs are seeing??? If that call wasn't made, the 2007 game would have been a blowout. That gave them a free 1st down and they eventually scored on that drive.

Be thankful that was the only bad call that game. In the SEC's mind, they still "owe" LSU for 2004. Never mind the fact that was one bad call for LSU to probably hundreds (at this point in history) for Bama.

Dollars. Simple as that.
I've shared my "I know some SEC refs" stories here before. I'm leaving it at that.
Just put it this way: LSU needs mentally tough teams to win it all. Our 2007 team was able to do that. Probably our best team in the history of our school, the 2006 version, well.....LOL
We all know what happened there.
IF LSU and Bama are both top five teams going into Tuscaloosa in 2011, I expect to see 2007 and 2009 all over again. Maybe worse. The question is, will LSU be good enough to overcome it?

Speaking of penalties in the 2007 game. I have always wondered what was the personal foul penalty for on Hester. I'm talking about the play were bama intercepted and Hester ran his arse down and tackled him in front of the Alabama bench. Did Hester rub the guy's face into the ground or WHAT? You couldn't see anything on TV because of all the bama players crowded around the end of the play.

You know the answer.
My favorite play in the 2007 game.
We were facing a third and short, or maybe it was fourth and short and were set in an odd formation with our Oline having wide splits. On a cadence (you can tell we practiced this), the entire Oline came together and were down in their stance. Bama jumped, clearly. The refs called "illegal shift" on the play. LOL. It wasn't. It was a brilliant "trick play" by our Offense. This was bad call #7 or #8 in the game. One of our Olineman got pissed and removed his helmet, resulting in another 15 yard "tack on" penalty. We punted, and Bama ran it all the way back.
And people say refs can't change momentum. They did it numerous times in the 2007 game....but we won, so everyone drops it.

this play is the most pissed off I have ever been in my fricking life while watching an LSU game. Watching that video just now still legitimately pisses me off to no end.
a tie for the second most pissed off moments are 1)the Early Doucet leaping call for the blocked FG against Auburn and 2)was the no pass interference call against Early Doucet from Russell vs Auburn.

Cheaters.
That is the event that convinced me beyond a shadow of a doubt that there are biased cheaters lurking amongst the SEC officiating crews. There is no excuse for missing that call on video replay. None. Zero.

First thing to come to mind?
First, cheating refs.
Second, I hate Alabama more than USC! And that is saying something.
Third, Alabama with Saban as the coach apparently can't win without the refs.
Fourth, Alabama wasn't nearly as good as people gave them credit for that year.
Took LSU's chance away with that call, should have lost to Tenn. but their field goal kicker was injured, would have lost to Texas but their QB got hurt. Alabama was actually better last year than they were the year before.
