@ lsusteve1

That was an insightful, logical and rational post.

What the hell is it doing in this thread?

Finebaum is trying to get under the LSU fans' skin with that comment. It's a bad comparison IMO. LSU actually had football tradition well before Saban. Florida hadn't even won an SEC title until Spurrier.

This would be great for Bama fans except that God hates Bama more.

Saban did a lot for LSU. But lost in the comparison between Saban to Miles and Spurrier to Meyer is Ron Zook. If a coach inherits a great program, he still has to be able to coach the team on his own. Maybe one day the Finebaums and Guilbeaus of the world will figure that out.

Made the mistake of turning on Finebaum today

And now you want to encourage others to help him out as well? By posting what he says, you generate hits on his website, etc.

Please stop helping this mother fricker. Everyone. Please. And his wanna be sidekick Guilbeau, too.

That's what I like about Trent Johnson and Les Miles. They were up here last night for the alumni banquet, and both are reverent of the LSU tradition, but also, especially Johnson, I'm sure because it was his first year and a very successful one, they don't act like they walked into a program in shambles and are the god of coaching. They both talk about the quality of players that were at the program when they arrived.

Spurrier put Florida on the map. They were horrible before he came. Urban Myer is a great coach who inherited a team from Ron Zook and took Florida to places Spurrier never took them. The man has 2 national championships to Spurrier's one. However, Spurrier is the one who started it in Florida, therefore, UF owes a lot to him, but Meyer owes him nothing. It's the same way with LSU. Saban took a crumbling program away from Dinardo and put us back on the map. LSU owes a lot to Saban, but Miles owes nothing to him. What Miles has done at LSU is overlooked. Now let's see what Saban can do for Alabama. It seems like Mike Shula coached Bama to a 10-2 record, which matches Saban's record last year. Shula also didn't lose to ULM or UAB.

that's what I thought, and I agree with your question. I don't listen to Finebaum, nor do I understand how LSU fans are baited by the assertion in the first place.

And when Saban leaves Alabama for his next "dream job", there will be those who will state all future Alabama successes (all sports) will be because Nick Saban took a crap in the restroom of the House Bear built.

Old topic. Guy fishing for ratings.

Spurrier at Florida to Saban at LSU. Saban changed the culture at LSU, therefore the future success @ LSU is attributable to Saban just like the success that Urban Meyer is having @ Florida is because of Spurrier.

This is just stupid. Saban has 1 good season at Mich St, why? Did he magically transform into a great coach at LSU? Or did LSU offer a greater opportunity for him? He did a great job here, no one can deny that, but if you want to give credit to one person for changing the culture at LSU, that person is Mark Emmert

False.

They were National Title contenders in the mid 80's, probation scandals did them in. They "won" the SEC in 84, but were stripped of the title because of NCAA violations. The is no SEC Champion for that season. SOS took them to the next level, they were good before he got there.

One "stripped" SEC title doesn't put you on the map. How good were you anyway if you violated NCAA rules? 6 SEC Championships and a National Championship in 11 years under Spurrier does. Florida was nothing before Spurrier got there. To argue otherwise is stupid
