Fastest way from Baton Rouge to Dallas....by Jet !

A 15 mile difference does not create a 30 minute advantage unless you're suggesting that you average a faster speed on 190 than you do on I-10. It just doesn't add up. At BEST, you're looking at ~15 minutes difference.
This. If you take I-10 to Lafayette, you get on I-49 19 miles south of Hwy 190. But it's about 5 miles to get to 190 from I-10 at Lobdell. Last time I checked, the slowest speed limit on I-10 is 60 mph across the basin, and there are no stop lights. To me, the reason for taking 190 is less about saving time and more about avoiding the potential wreck on the basin.
One other option for some taking the trip, is to stay on I-20 instead of getting on Hwy 80 at Terrell. This brings you south of downtown Dallas, and if during rush hour is a decent option if you are staying in Fort Worth or Arlington. Note: You will be on the south end of both cities, and would likely take Hwy 360 to travel north through Arlington, and would have a couple of options in Fort Worth.

I'll probably be leaving BR around 12 ish so I will probably get to shreveport before the 4 or 5 o clock traffic and get to dallas some time around 7
Leaving at 12:00 will be perfect. I'm originally from Hammond, and I make this run every couple of months to visit the family. You either have to leave at around 8:00 am or earlier or 12:00 pm or later to avoid the rush hour traffic. You will be fine leaving at that time.
Also to the guy ( I think it was Silkyjohnson),I have taken both routes several times and it is without a doubt faster to take 190 instead of hitting 49 in Lafayette. While you are correct there are a few spots that you slow down to 45, it is basically a one stop light intersection and then your back up to 70. I think there is no more than 4. Anyway I've done it and timed it so speaking from experience you are WRONG.

Way to not pay attention. I never said it wasn't faster. I said there's no way it's 30-45 minutes faster like some in here are claiming.
You said yourself it was roughly 15 minutes faster. I agreed with you.

I've seen more naked women walking along 190. in fact, I've never seen a naked woman on I-10!

I stand corrected.

Why do you need a 30 minute head start?
Another poster said it was 45 minutes faster to go by 190 and you said 190 was 30 minutes faster to take 190 as opposed to 1-10 to I-49.
As someone who have gone both ways more times than I like to remember, there is simply no way 190 is 30-45 minutes faster to Dallas than I-10 to I-49 and into Opelousas.
190 might be 10-15 minutes faster.
It's not a big deal either way and it all depends on what kind of driving you prefer.
