Had Dabo already had a job previously and failed to improve his team?

You got me pegged wrong. I liked miles. I thought he did a great job his first 7-8 years. I defended him with passion to all the ignorant posters that said he was an idiot/clown.

Nine years ago, the idea of Clemson playing in the national championship game was utterly laughable. The Tigers hadn't won 10 games in a season in 18 years, hadn't won the ACC in 17, hadn't finished a season ranked higher than 20th since the turn of the century.

Dabo had an Offensive background: WRs/QBs/AHC He was a relentless organizer who came from poverty. A homeless walk-on at ALA he shared his apartment and bed with his homeless mother, after his alchoholic father left them. LINK

He took over mid-season from Bowden as an Interim. He was promoted to HC in 2009 for a few hundred thousand dollars and NO BUYOUT.

Orgeron was 3-21 at Ole Miss (SEC) 2005-2007, winless his last season.

LSU: You miss Les Miles, yet? For all his faults, Miles won 77% of his games at LSU and never lost to a team from outside the power conferences. That’s not to say Miles should have kept his job. LSU got stale and dropped off significantly from the 2005-2013 teams that could play with anybody in the country. But this isn’t the kind of change LSU had in mind. It seems some folks at LSU bought the idea that Orgeron could be their Dabo Swinney, where he does all the other stuff and leaves the coaching to his high-paid coordinators. But that notion implies a fundamental misunderstanding of what a head coach means. Yes, the Clemson model put a priority on high-paid coordinators with significant autonomy to run their units. But that doesn’t give enough credit to the importance of culture and how well Swinney runs the organization. You can’t be an effective CEO if you’re not a good leader, and coordinators are only going to be as good as their head coach allows and inspires them to be. LSU got outplayed and outcoached on Saturday by Troy. That falls on one man’s shoulders, and LSU needs to figure out quickly whether it signed up for a permanent condition or has the stomach to pay its way out of the ditch.
