In order for this team to keep the success up against some of the SEC top teams in the SEC, Mitchell and Hyder have to stay out of foul trouble is pretty insane how quickly and unnecessarily they rack up fouls. When they get in foul trouble, Rhodes comes in and she does not have the height or build to withstand SEC competition. She is gritty and scrappy as all hell though.
Rina Hill had a great night offensively last night. It was a little bit of a shock, but top teams are gonna key on Jackson and Moncrief, so Hill, Hyder, Mitchell, Neubert, Rhodes, and Norton have to step it up.
Either way I am damn proud of what they have accomplished this far and excited to see where they go next.

Anyone questioning Coach Fargas coaching ability hasn't been watching or refuses to give her any credit. And anyone watching knew her coaching actually overcame her limited players.
I went to the last 2 home games last year, a one point win against a ranked Tennessee team and a blowout loss against an unranked Florida team. Those two games illustrated 3 things about the team: they were usually overmatched, but they always played hard and Nikki coaches her arse off. The effort of the team & coaches made me want to watch them in person again.

Jenna Deemer has an illness that's been affecting her the last 2yrs. Not sure what it is though.

Nikki Fargas's family is set so now she can concentrate on coaching basketball?

LSU is winning in a very unique way this season, but they are winning. They as a team do not have very deep depth in post players - their center is 5-11 Alexis Hyder.
They are a guard-heavy team or at least in size, but do not shoot very many threes and when they do are not a good 3-pt shooting team. I think LSU is hitting around 23% of their 3-ptrs - they have one player who has taken more than a 3rd of the team's 3-pt shots, and she actually has a decent % at it shooting something like 35-36%, but that tells you what the rest of the team is doing shooting the three.
With the lack of size in the paint, LSU is not a big rebounding team, with three players averaging around 5 rebs per gm.
So all this tells me is that LSU is feasting off of their defense, and forcing turnovers. I think LSU leads the nation in steals per game. So an opponent needs to take care of the ball, while at the same time keep the ball moving and don't allow LSU to close in tie up the ball.
In SC, we have two pretty speedy PGs in Cuevas-Moore and Harris, but they are the best in ball control and making crisp passes. So here is where it'll be dangerous. As I said LSU doesn't shoot threes (they have 92 attempts in 17 gms - USC has attempted 260+ in 15 gms), while they don't particularly stop opponents from shooting threes (opponents have shot 316 threes, completing 31.3%), and we have several capable perimeter shooters in Davis, Gray, Cuevas-Moore and Harris.
I'm thinking that A'ja Wilson may miss this game as well, but even if she does, Coates and Herbert-Harrigan won't be swallowed up by a bunch of height. And if LSU tried to collapse into the paint to smother our bigs, it should open our guards to shoot those threes. But the biggest question will be, can our PGs take care of the ball, and limit the turnovers....

Could it be that we brought in Mickie DeMoss, who nobody talks about?
quote:DeMoss, in reality, should be the Head Coach.
you answered your own question
Apparently, Nikki is actually letting Mickie coach and is allowing some of her ideas/input to make it into actual games. (Totally the opposite of how " Lame Duck JJ" completely shut down and locked Musselman up in a closet while he was here)
