Better clock management?
This is the one area I'll agree was an upgrade. However, Orgeron clearly took a few steps back in the Arkansas game with this as well.

End of the first half of the bama game, piss poor clock management cost us points.

you honestly don't believe there was NO inquiring about candidates, and NO money/effort spent for the search on the most important hire? A hire thats was buzzing so hard there was a meeting at halftime in 2015 A&M game. What else were all the people paid doing besides, market research, evaluate prospective interest, exhaust means to get top targets, etc..
What exactly are you asserting here? This narrative that Orgeron essentially did s a favor by bailing us out after the ONLY two legitimate possible coaches turned us down may be the very worst take in the whole coaching search fiasco.
For the sake of argument...let's say that's correct and after Jimbo and Tom Herman LITERALLY NO OTHER SOLID COACH would take our phone calls...what would the reason for that be?
We know it is not because we refuse to pay top dollar for coaches.
We know it is not because of conference affiliation and prestige.
We know it isn't because it's difficult to recruit to LSU.
We know it isn't because of a lack of facilities.
We know it's not due to a lack of recent success and relevancy.
We know it's not fan support, both financial and in the stands.
So...what do you attribute as the potential reason for why LSU could not lure ANY OTHER COACH to LSU besides our own DL coach and his resume of having already gone 10-25 at Ole Miss in his one and only stint as a full-time head coach?
Oh...and before you suggest it was because LSU fans are too demanding having just fired Miles, name one coach worth his salt that would not take a job because of high expectations?

Why do we continually have to rehash this? O wasn’t hired because anyone thought he was better than Miles. He was hired because Alexander fricked up the process and Alleva jumped to hire Orgeron. It’s pretty simple.

Is this acceptable?

Hiring the DL coach from within was, is and will remain a huge mistake until he wins the SEC. No denying this. No one in the CFB universe would have taken him on as HC. I would like to know why he was hired after all, but I doubt we ever learn.

With Alleva's ability to squeeze every single penny he can out of people, he will probably write a book after he retires.
He sure would have a lot of stuff to be able to cover, between Duke Lacrosse and everything LSU. However, I'm sure the book would be on par with his concession selection.

Then one asks, "What fool hired Joseph Alleva?" That's the real question.
