No doubt there's plenty of blame to go around for this defense. Pelini, players, etc.

With a week off, they HAVE to had some things corrected. There is enough talent on this defense to make plays.

South Carolina isn't going to do anything exotic - not that it matters since LSU wasn't stopping anything - but that should help since LSU is trying to simplify things.

Through four games South Carolina averages 372 yards per game, can LSU hold them under that?

I say yes.

This feels like the deciding week. With essentially two weeks to prepare, against a pretty mediocre offense, if you can’t play good in this spot I don’t think you ever will this season.

I have no expectations for the defense this year.

I expect the defense to look like its looked after 3 games. Horrible. Poor tackling, out of position and little effort.

What I am cheering for is massive improvements in all 3 areas above. But I am trying to be realistic. LSU played 3 horrible offenses. I highly doubt we will see improvement.

I think the general expectation just to see guys who know their assignments and aren't confused pre play. If anything that is the ONE improvement I wish to see. If that gets improved then I believe things such as tackling and filling run gaps will fall into place.

I know it's sarcasm but whoa! Tall grass show down opponents offenses better than the Tiger D.

Why? Has LSU limited any team to below their average ypg? We're averaging giving up like 480 ypg to opposing offenses.

Lol you could've said this same thing going into the missouri game. Anyone expecting improvement is operating on complete and total blind faith. All actual evidence suggests that this is one of the worst defenses in the country. Not only are they bad, but they don't make adjustments. If SC finds something that works (they will), they just have to do that thing over and over. We've legitimately played what might be the 3 worst offenses in the entire SEC and we've made 2 of them look like 2019 LSU. Why would you think we're remotely capable of holding SC under its season average? We're more likely to give up 500 than we are to hold them under 400.

No expectations, it’ll look like a defense isn’t even out there
