Everybody on the rant needs to chill out.
Why?
This what fans do. They "rant", they vent and get frustrated by a bad game. By any definition that was a bad game.
The defense is in the crapper. Any realistic hopes of getting to Atlanta are squashed. The offense has regressed to Les Studthorpe levels.
Next year has the potential to be much worse.
It sucks.
There is no positive spin to put on this.

Was winning it all in 03 and 07 not awesome?
Yes. Those weren't the only awesome things that ever happened to LSU football. Awesome things happen every single season, and mostly every single game.
Motherfricking this. This is one of the best posts I've ever seen on this board, and I want to thank you, ballscaster, for putting it so simply.
This is the most important thing that is pretty much always absent in these fan base meltdowns following every loss and even many of wins. And not just our fans. It's an epidemic that has spread from the old call in talk shows that my family and friends used to listen to and laugh at on our way home after LSU and Saints games before the internet provided anonymity to hide the drunken or ignorant voices we could clearly identify over the radio.
Winning NCs are great. We've won two in a decade which is more than I ever dreamed of as a young LSU and Saints fans through some of the worst football seasons imaginable.
But only one team is going to win every year. Teams lose games they shouldn't all the team. Even the great ones.
But being able to enjoy a football game or season, even when you lose or aren't going to win a championship doesn't make you complacent, a pussy, or a loser, it makes you a reasonable fricking person with a life outside of a team you support and cheer for.
2008 was a complete shite show on both sides of the ball, but I fricking loved that we beat Auburn for the first time on The Plains in a decade. I loved that such a disaster of a team rallied and played their best game of the year when Saban brought his #1 undefeated Tide back to Tiger Stadium for the first time and took them to overtime despite being a double digit underdog. I loved that team when they overcame a near 30 point deficit in the second half against Troy (yeah we shouldn't have been down that much but still
Yeah the losses to Florida, Georgia, and Ole Miss weren't fun, but I always think about those good games before those bad ones when thinking about that year.
2002 and 2004 sucked all kinds of fricking dick, but holy shite the Bluegrass Miracle is still one of the most amazing moments in my sports watching history. And the Florida games those two years are still my favorite road trip I have ever experienced. And the ugly but beautiful wins over Ole Miss those years were two of the most satisfying last home games of the season of all time imo. Those teams fought like hell even when there was nothing to play for in the big picture.
It sucked losing to Alabama in a Rematch in 2011 that never should have happened, but I don't give that game a second thought when remembering the best fricking season in LSU's history when we went 13-0 winning the SEC with only one game decided by less than 2 touchdowns.
LSU split a title in 2003 because the best team we've ever had completely shite the bed at home against a mediocre team coached by Ron Zook and a freshman QB, and it was a fricking fantastic ride that I'll never forget.
I guess I'm just a complacent pussy, but I'm also an extremely happy and successful guy that has enjoyed the shite out of watching Mett Jarvis Odell and Hill play at an extremely high level for six of seven games so far this year, and expect we'll see more great play over the next five games.
The defense has been frustrating no doubt, but we've seen great play from them over the past 5 seasons, so I'm confident we'll be closer to our usual level next season. This year is just going to have to fall on the offense it looks like.
Sports are a lot of fun. It's a lot more fun when you win obviously, but LSU isn't the only team with good players coaches and fans that want to win just as much as ours. Pretending that it's some kind of embarrassment to lose on a last second FG at Ole Miss is just a comical bit of immaturity that is far too prevalent in so many aspects of our world today, not just sports.
Perspective is a hell of a thing. And it appears to be a rare commodity, and not just on internet message boards.

So where do you we open the seasons now against premiere non-conference teams? In Texas. Next year, with the new South Endzone upper deck, Alleva has decided to play Wisconsin in Texas.
Maybe someone needs to tell Alleva to stop this shite as well.
Kidding. I agree with you; I prefer to see as many games in Tiger Stadium as possible (though when I was a kid, we very rarely had more than six games in Tiger Stadium, and today we usually have seven).
quote:I do wonder what the bottom line is on this. For all I know, LSU makes more money, all things considered, doing things this way; I couldn't tell you.
He's taking money away from the businesses around the LSU campus for these big games and giving it to businesses in Texas.

Thanks for ALL the postings on this multi-page topic! As a die-hard, purple-and-gold-bleeding fan living in Colorado (surrounded by OSU, Oregon and Buffs fans), this loss was real hard to take -(lots of smug looks from the neighbors) - AND, it happened on my birthday! BUT, I take great solace knowing I am not alone in my grief and misery. The Tigers will come back. Who knows? Maybe we'll ruin the Gumps season! We've got nothing to lose now! Geaux Tigers!!
