I don't blame him for not wanting to leave, but at the same time he has to be realistic about his chances of winning it all with the roster they have.
They're going to run into Ohio State, A&M, Georgia at some point and it's not going to end well for Ole Miss.

He had a better team on the field than us last year - and lost to us and his folks at Ole Miss went all in with NIL money and outspent us on that by a wide margin last year.....that's just a fact.
LSU had a pretty sweet built in recruiting advantage before NIL and the portal, but I'm not so sure those advantages are as significant now as then.

He recruits pretty damn well considering where he is recruiting kids to come to. OM isn't on the same level as LSU in recruiting. LM wasn't a "great recruiter" until he was at LSU...I think the same would happen with Lane.

I'm going to preface this is as I am a huge LSU fan and never talk down. I'm only pointing something out.
Look where LSU is right now and look where Ole Miss is right now.
